About Black Cat Tavern...Winner the Cape Cod Chowderfest for 2012, 2013 & 2014 and named "Best Giant Lobster Roll" in Yankee Magazine 2013. Under the new ownership of Dave Colombo this waterfront restaurant, perched right on Hyannis Harbor just got a major facelift. The new look is all about laid back, upscale nautical and the menu keeps the focus on an extensive selection of native seafood with plenty of alternatives to keep everyone in the crowd happy. What could be better than eating fried clams on the patio while watching boats sail in and out of the harbor? Serving lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch.

We went to the Black Cat for lunch and were very impressed with the great service and the wonderful food. We noted on their menu that Yankee Magazine had praised them for the "best giant lobster roll," so I had to check it out. Yankee is correct! The lobster roll was piled high with claw and tail meat, with just enough mayo to hold it together--no slime. It comes with Cape Cod chips and a pickle, but for an extra dollar, they serve skinny, crispy french fries. The location is lovely--just across Ocean Street from the HiLine ferry dock. We'll be back during the summer to sit out on the patio and have one more giant lobster roll!

We'll be back

My husband and I stopped here for dinner before going to a movie and felt that we made a good choice. The nautical ambiance was casual, and the staff friendly. Being January, we sat by the fire -- next time (in warm weather) we'll sit outside on their patio and watch the boats go by. I had a salmon dinner with a fruit risotto, and my husband had scallops and angel hair pasta. Both were delicious.

Great food/service at The Black Cat

We went to The Black Cat 'fast food' location and it was great. I ordered the scallop roll which was heaping full and delicious. The view of the Hyannis Harbor can't be beat, so relaxing and beautiful. We like it so much, we returned on Sunday for brunch. My daughter had a bus to catch and the staff was very accommodating to provide us speedy service. The food was excellent, just like their other location next door. Go, you won't be disappointed!

The Black Cat

Yes, it's changed hands, but the Black Cat is still great. I missed the paintings of all the cats, but other than that, it was basically the same ambience. Pleasant to sit and view the harbor and great staff that are very helpful. We found the food to be above average. The stuffed mushrooms were to die for and the key lime pie, oh, my, it was better than....well...about any dessert I've ever had. You won't be dissappointed in The Black Cat!
