Cooking at Kate's is a weekend getaway offered at this property during the off season. After seeing it featured on a local TV show last fall, I immediately booked for a group of us Valentine's weekend, and we just returned. The weekend includes 2 nights lodging in this magnificent home, a light dinner and some great California wines Friday night, continental breakfast Saturday, 5 course gourmet sit down dinner Saturday night (with more great wine) and brunch on Sunday. That's all what we expected, but the our experience exceeded expectations by far. As it turned out, the weather was the coldest the region has seen in years, but the warmth of this oceanfront home (and its 4 fireplaces) and our hosts, Lauren and Dave turned the weekend into the perfect winter escape. All our hands were on deck with private chef, Sean, Saturday night as we helped prep our own meal after relaxing with a glass of wine enjoying one of the most stunning sunsets we've ever seen. The sommelier, Eric, perfectly paired a wine with each course to complete the night. We definitely plan to return, and would recommend Cooking at Kate's no matter the season.

We had a great Thanksgiving family reunion at Kate's large beachfront home! Kate and Lauren made the process of booking and checking in/out very smooth and hospitable for us. We enjoyed walks on the private beach, the lovely sunsets, and tons of family time in the sun rooms or watching football. The long, reclaimed wood table was perfect for our large holiday meals. We enjoyed biking in Falmouth (about 25 min south) and visiting mansions in Newport, RI (about 1 hour west). The location of the home was convenient from both Boston and Providence airports.

Everyone had a great time!

We decided to try Cooking At Kate's after seeing a segment on Chronicle. The house is BEAUTIFUL and very clean. Lauren is so nice and meets you at the house upon arrival. She has set out a very impressive spread. It's billed as a light meal but it's so much more than you expect. We enjoyed plenty of wine and great food our first evening. The highlight of the weekend is Saturday night. Both Sean and Eric are great hosts for the evening. We enjoyed our cooking lesson and more great food and wine. Sunday morning brunch was also delicious. The 2 pm check-out times leaves you plenty of time to relax and enjoy a little more time with friends before heading home. What a great experience. We'll be back again!!!

Fantastic weekend! This is our 4th. year renting this property and it just get's better with age. My family, friends and I get together once a year and what a pleasure it is to always come home to this house. This house is spacious and comforting all at the same time. The weather has always been with us on our weekend away. Whether it be sunrise on the deck, sunshine on the golf course or sunset on the beach this place cannot be beat.
Looking forward to next year.

The owners couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating without being intrusive or pushy. I received an email back within 2 hours of my first inquiry, and they were available to us by phone for the duration of the our stay, we called them twice with questions about locations of items in the house, they responded within 20 minutes. We were a group of 8 friends looking for a weekend getaway, we are all world travelers and have rented homes form Bali to Cancun, so we aren't "new" to rental markets. In addition I have owned on the Vineyard so I know this particular market very well. The high lights of this house are... the enormous living room with 2 fireplaces, fireplace in the formal dinning room, and 2 kitchens, one with informal dining area. Each side of the house has a lovely sunroom off it where additional guests could sleep. What is most amazing about this house is that EVERY bedroom has an ocean view- you almost never find that in a rental. In addition the bathrooms are on the opposite side of the house which creates privacy for all.
This house has been updated, and, thank god, the owners managed to keep it's "Old Cape" feel: meaning someone with a sensibility to the period of the house, and it's location, carefully made update without turning the place into the kind of "tribute to bad taste Mc Mansion" that ruined the Hamptons, It's old world elegance with some tastefully added new world convenience. This house would be perfect for a family gathering, college reunion, or friendly get away, enjoy the sunset off the porch, or watch it go down through the panoramic windows with a romantic fire, nestled in one of the over stuffed sofa. We'll be back...

It's so hard to put into words what my family and I experienced this past weekend.

To say that we had an amazing time is an understatement. From the first rain-soaked moment we walked in, to the beautiful, breezy day we left - the entire time was just outstanding.

Your house is absolutely beautiful. Looking at the "renovation" book lets everyone appreciate the transformation. Every room was perfect in our eyes....and to have that view out every window - back AND front - was truly awesome. I just can't imagine a better place for us. The kitchen(s) - my Lord - everything we could possibly need! Family dining around your beautiful table - my mother was just so happy - as were we all. Playing games at night around the living room coffee table was a blast. Those coffee tables are gorgeous! We just couldn't have asked for anything more. Truly.

We had an amazing day Saturday walking so far out in the water - everyone fishing and enjoying the sun. And walking that beach - we collected a ton of shells - so many shells!!!! We're going to make some crafts out of them as a remembrance of our very, very, special time.

Thank you again for opening your home to us - and it really did feel like a home.

Hope to get back again soon!

Karyn

PS.....Lauren was AWESOME!!! Please thank her for us!!!!!!

Our family of 14-16 stayed here for a week and are already looking forward to returning. It's not easy to find homes with a lot of bedrooms plus the living space to accommodate a crowd. Southwest at Little Harbor does this and does it well. There are plenty of comfortable Adirondack chairs and a large picnic table with umbrella on the patio, a great spot to have coffee in the morning, lunch, or cocktails at sunset. The living room (if you ever want to leave the beach or patio) has ample, comfortable seating and lighting, and it is especially nice that the TV is in a separate room. Also, there are smaller rooms on each end of the house on the first floor that were perfect play areas for our grandkids to spread out their toys, yet still be close to the action. Ceiling fans in the bedrooms were appreciated, and the beds comfortable, with plenty of towels in the linen closet. There is plenty of room for cooking both inside and at the grill, and the kitchen was well equipped. The water in Buzzard's Bay is fairly calm and shallow, so it is good for the little ones. The beach was nearly our own each day, with a few friendly walkers and swimmers during the week. We had some great wind for sailing, and some calm days for kayaking. There isn't a huge amount of boat traffic, other than seeing the huge vessels in the distance that are heading in to the canal, which is extraordinary to see. We were also pleased not to have to cross the Bourne Bridge, which can be a traffic nightmare in the summer; shopping and an excellent farm stand are within a few miles. Traffic here is not at all like what you'd get further out on the Cape, a huge plus for us. This is a beautiful spot that we will gladly return to.

We returned to Southwest at Little Harbor for the 6th consecutive year because it has so much to offer! In additition to its being very clean and well furnished, comfortable beds and so many amenities, there are special touches not often found in rental homes. Each room has very attractive bedding and coverings, as well as a linen closet full of towels. As in our own home things can go wrong but are remedied quickly and properly e.g. when the micro wave started smoking, we quickly unplugged it and called Lauren. About two hours later, Lauren and Dave arrived with a new microwave, an removed the old one. We are looking forward to the new washer and dryer which was installed upon our departure. Having three refrigerators is a big plus as every family arrives with their favorite foods.
Though I have described the interior, we do spend most of our time outside. Whether you want sun or shade or beach or a rocking chair on the front porch or a quiet spot on the patio, it's there awaiting you. The view of Buzzards Bay is spectacular! Enjoy!
Our three generations are looking forward to next year again.

We had a relaxing week at Southwest at Little Harbor with our large group of 5 families. The house is roomy and comfortable. The view of the bay from the bedrooms and the deck is beautiful and we enjoyed the breeze off the water at night. We rented stand up paddle boards one day which was fun on the calm bay. We loved how quiet and private the beach is. We look forward to returning sometime soon! Thanks Lauren and Kate!

My husband and I recently rented Southwest at Little Harbor for our intimate wedding and it was a beautiful, incredible experience. Not only did we have both our ceremony and reception at the house but we also stayed there for a week with our immediate families. Our wedding guests continually commented on how stunning the setting was and, despite a bit of uncooperative weather, how perfect the day turned out to be.

Waking up to gorgeous water views every day, relaxing on the lovely grounds and having the space to comfortably blend our families were just a few of the amazing benefits of this home. The two (TWO!) full kitchens provided excellent work spaces both for our wedding caterer and for our own family meals. The two sun rooms on either side of the house were great places to read, nap, practice yoga or simply enjoy one of the most beautiful moon views I've ever seen, right over the water. My husband and I "escaped" the reception for a while to catch that gorgeous moon.

Not only was the location ideal but working with Kate and her family (the owners) was a fantastic experience. They were genuinely accommodating throughout the process and made us feel so welcome in their home. In fact, they were so generous that it felt as though we were family members ourselves and the house had been a long-time sanctuary for us.

I recommend this property to anyone seeking an unforgettable experience. Whether you want to enjoy the best of Cape Cod or you prefer not to step off the grounds, Southwest at Little Harbor will be a perfect fit. The only reservation I have in recommending it is that I don't want the house to get too booked - there is no question that my family and I will return for many years to come!

I have rented this beautiful home 5 times. Each time I walk through the front door, I feel like I am coming home. It is warmly decorated, immaculate, spacious, inviting, well stocked and offers a gorgeous ocean view. Kate and Lew are a pleasure to work with. I have rented for friends getaway weekends and for my family Christmas party.I cannot respond as to what is in the area for activities, because we never leave the house once we arrive since we are there for relaxation. I highly recommend this home rental for any occasion and any type of traveler. Whether a girls weekend, family re-union, parents with children, couples...everyone will enjoy Southwest at LIttle Harbor.

I rented this home for our company's 3 day offsite budget planning meeting with a week's notice for 16 coworkers. I'm very pleased to say it exceeded our expectations in terms of space, layout, and accessibility but it was also a beautiful environment in which to conduct this meeting from a team building perspective. We cooked together in the spacious kitchen(s) and there was room for everyone to pitch in. I can't say enough about the ease with which this last-minute meeting was planned and executed and that's in part due to working with Kate and Lauren. Thanks for a successful 2011 Budget Planning Session!

We rented this house for a long weekend in September and loved it. We were right on the beach, walking distance to a golf course and a short drive to the Cape, Boston and other great destinations. The bedrooms were perfect, we had a bigger crowd but were still able to get everyone into a bed. The seven bathrooms was also perfect when we needed to get ready to go out in a hurry. It was almost like having a private bathroom! The house is well stocked for big meals too! We had steaks and veggies on the grill and since there were two kitchens we were able to have 4 lobster pots going at once in addition to pan cooked items. Finally, our hosts were very gracious and accommodating. They were able to answer questions and when we had bad weather for most of the weekend they even offered to let us extend our stay by 1/2 a day at no extra charge. You won't go wrong renting this place!

We will be spending our family vacation in 2012 for the third consecutive year, in this great home on what feel like our own private beach. It is spacious and comfortable, very clean, and well equipped. It has something for each of our three generations. It was fun to watch three of the teenagers graduate to setting up sail and going out on our catamaran for the first time. We're all looking forward to next summer...perhaps to find our own private corner or to join others for games, kayaking, or relaxing on the beach. Building sandcastles on the sandbar is also enjoyed by all.

Our family has spent a marvelous week at this wonderful ocean front home in Cape Cod since 2004. Not only is it an enjoyable experience because of the location and the terrific house, but the privacy that can be enjoyed on this huge lot is unique. We go in early July and have always found that the breeze off the ocean keeps it cool, inside and outside. It is just a short drive to stores and restaurants but it still feels like you are out on your own island. There is easy access for kayaks and during low tide, children can walk out for several hundred yards and it is only knee deep. There is no place better to vacation in the Northeast than this!

We reserved the house for our fall wedding weekend, so that our families would have a place to stay for several nights together, and we could hold the service in the large living room. The house was perfect -- roomy enough to be together and not together, comfortable, clean, and full of character. The location was perfect -- autumn sunlight and color by the ocean. It was a very small wedding, and our guests reported that they had a fantastic time, so we know we made the right choice. We will forever treasure our wedding memories at this place.

My husband and I rented Southwest at Little Harbor for our daughter’s wedding in June of 2010. This lovely, beachfront estate was the perfect site for a traditional New England wedding! This venue would accommodate intimate weddings, anniversary celebrations, retreats, reunions, or extended family vacations beautifully. The home is lovely - very roomy and welcoming for guests of all ages. The facilities are wonderful. The gourmet kitchens, sun porches and common areas, the numerous large bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as the private beach, all in beautiful seaside surroundings, make it a perfect place to entertain family and friends and celebrate a special occasion. The home is very comfortable, with its own distinct charm – a great place to relax and enjoy life! Many opportunities exist for pursuing outdoor leisure and water-related sports and activities.

There is plenty of space to accommodate those who want to relax privately, gather in small groups, or enjoy being with the group at large. We especially enjoyed that our close family and friends were able to spend the entire weekend with us and that we could enjoy preparing many special meals together. In addition to being pleasant, helpful and accommodating, Kate, one of the family members who owns and manages the home, was very efficient in helping to meet our needs, answer our many questions, and make excellent referrals for various caterers and vendors. Family members, Lew and Lauren, were on-site to greet us when we arrived and make sure the home was in pristine condition. We have such special memories of the wedding weekend at Southwest at Little Harbor. For the quintessential New England experience, celebrate your special occasion here!
