Description

Description

Located directly on the Cape's largest lake, Lake Wequaquet, this property is ideal for families that enjoy swimming, fishing, boating and just plain relaxing. The dock has a seating area for sunbathing, reading and having lunch. A large screen porch overlooks the lake and provides a perfect spot for bright sunny breakfasts or romantic candlelight dinners. This home which has been part of our family for over 50 years is not a rental property per se, but rather, a cherished family retreat.
Centerville is a charming village first settled in 1680. Our home provides the best of both worlds: quiet, peaceful location with easy access to Craigville beach (5 minutes away) and terrific shopping in the unique shops of Osterville and the Cape Cod Mall.
A truly unique vacation opportunity your family will want to return to year after year.

    Wonderful family vacation

We just spent a week with our 2 sons' families (3 grandchildren under 3) and had a wonderful vacation. The house was very clean and well equipped for all our needs. The porch and large kitchen/family room were wonderful gathering spots for all of us to be together. The fish cooperated right off the pier so our little ones caught fish right away and the ducks in the water provided other natural enjoyment for the grandchildren to watch. The lake water was very clear and our water shoes made walking on the small, smooth rocks on the bottom just fine. The 2 kayaks and rowboat were nice additions to the cottage and were enjoyed by all. Their floating raft was available but we didn't end up using it. There were some inside toys and beach toys which were very popular with the 3 little ones. The dock was a beautiful spot to sit on and enjoy the scenery or watch our 3 yr. old grandson run and jump into the lake. The lawn chairs, grill and patio came in handy during the week. The lovely cottage and being on the lake brought back many happy memories and we hope to return again. show more show less

Perfect Home on our favorite Lake!!!!

This home was perfect, A large kitchen with everything you would need. A large table on the
other side of the kitchen counter. Our favorite place was the screened in porch, the whole width of the house as you looked out to Lake Wequaquet. The bed rooms were wonderful, Queen Beds in two of the bedrooms, 2 twin beds in another bedroom, then 2 bunk beds in the 4th bedroom. Everything was so comfortable. The 2 bathrooms were great, one had a shower
and bathtub. the other one had a shower. they were both perfect. Then you walked out to the screened porch. The lake was right there, along with a beautiful dock, you could fish off the dock if wanted. Back to the screened porch, There was a large round table where we ate dinner a lot. There was also a round table outside to the right of the screened porch outside..
so they thought of everything. The kids had a blast, as did all the adults. It was incredible.

    A fabulous week!

We just love it here! This charming home is spacious, comfortable, and set up with all you need for a fun and relaxing vacation.
The week was filled with swimming, kayaking, and lots of walks around the neighborhood. You're so close to town, beaches and much more.
The screened in porch was the perfect place to start and end our days, from catching beautiful sunrises to watching the boats go by.
We always feel so at home here and are never ready to leave.
Looking forward to our next visit! show more show less

    Total Relaxation

Sit on this screened porch, watch the birds, boats, and swimmers on the large lake, hear waves lapping on the shore, and feel your blood pressure fall to a healthy level. Lee's family home is the best we've rented. Our only regret is we couldn't stay longer.

This place feels like a home, not just a house. It is beyond well-stocked, with all the dishware and cookware we needed, and a generous supply of wine glasses. The A/C actually worked through our entire stay, which is a first in our Cape Cod experience. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. The cleaning crew does great work, and we hired them for a mid-visit spruce up.

Be aware driving to the home involves about 1/3 mile of dirt roads in bad repair. It was good we were not towing anything as that could have been a problem. On the upside, the home is on a dead end road so there is no traffic. We would rent from Lee again happily, but we bought a place on the Bass River and we look forward to staying our new home.

    Terrific place!

This is a very cozy, comfortable spot with a great screened-in porch, lots of room, open floor plan, and very close to shopping/restaurants.

    Wonderful Week!

We had a wonderful week at the Cape! We were two families (4 adults and 3 kids, ages 11-13) that have vacationed together on the Cape for many years. This year we decided to try something new as we hoped the lake would provide lots of entertainment for the kids - which it most definitely did!

The house was perfect for us! Spacious, clean and well-stocked. It provided us everything we needed! Loved the kitchen, central air and washer/dryer!

We all enjoyed lots of swimming, kayaking, row boating and fishing! The lake is absolutely beautiful and we all loved it! We also enjoyed a great deal of time on the screened in porch!

It was a wonderful place to stay and we look forward to returning again next year!

    It was a delight!!

From the moment we opened the door, we felt welcomed. Cape Cod was all around us, in every corner and just right. Beautifully decorated, this property gave us all the comfort the six members of our family needed (and also our dog) to have a wonderful time enjoying ourselves. All bedrooms were charming, clean and equipped with everything we required. The kitchen had a large and unexpected selection of very good quality dinnerware and kitchenware. We were pleasantly surprised each time we opened one of the kitchen drawers or cabinets; I'm a devoted cook and it was something I really appreciated. The different sections of the house made it possible for each of us to indulge their own interests, be that reading, watching television, surfing the web, cooking or, best of all, relax on the porch or the dock and enjoy a wonderful sunrise or sunset in front of the vast Lake Wequaquet.

The layout of the house is smart and convenient. My mom, who is 87 years old, had no problem accessing each room and fully enjoyed her stay. In short, the house is extremely well located (no more than a 30 minute drive to the different towns in Barnstable), maintained, decorated and equipped but most of all, it was a delight. We truly enjoyed it as well as our vacation in the Cape and to hope to return someday.

    Wonderful vacation

Even though we had enough bedrooms for everyone, I was concerned that we might get on each other's nerves (ages 18 months to 83 years). It never happened. The house had 3 distinct areas for alone time in addition to the dock. We used them all. It was not unusual to find someone reading in the screened-in-porch. On the one day it rained (light rain), we went to the Heritage Museum in Sandwich. We intended to go to the museum due to the rain but that was before we saw the beautifully landscaped gardens. They were outstanding. show more show less

A great place on the water!

The property description in the listing is highly accurate. It's amazing to leave the bustle of Route 28 and to find oneself in this quiet and peaceful setting within literally minutes. The lake water is wonderfully refreshing and the deck an oasis that you just don't want to leave. The house is comfortably and tastefully furnished though I would recommend a new sofa for the combined dining/living room. We love to cook and found all that we needed to prepare and serve wonderful meals on the screened porch overlooking the water. We've rented the house for two weeks each of the last two summers and wouldn't think of going back to a rental that isn't on the water. The rental comes with a beach pass for Town of Barnstable beaches which is great for when you want a change of scenery. The owners have been easy to deal with and responded immediately on the one or two occasions when we needed their help. We love the place and would recommend it to anyone looking for a restful and serene break, but with easy access to all parts of the middle Cape. show more show less

    The perfect escape!

2012 was our second year at this wonderful cottage on the lake.
It's a great spot and it's great to wake up to early morning swims, quieting kayaking and unbelievably calm ski water...not to mention the great fishing! The house is comfortable and clean. We love the bathroom renovation! The kitchen was great to enjoy a few meals at home. We'll look forward to next summer!

Our house on the lake has been in my family for three generations and is a very special place to all of us. As such, the house has seen the joys and sorrows of life's cycle. If the walls could talk they would echo the rich laughter that they have heard so often.
I started fishing on the lake when I was 10 years old (64 years ago) and can't wait to get back this summer and take up where I left off last year. I have mounted a couple of catches as testimony to the abundance of species in the lake.

What is special about this property?
The front porch, which extends the entire width of the house, is an ideal place to enjoy meals overlooking the lake.

What is special about your town?
Centerville is the quintesential New England town. An old country store, several white church steeples and the renown Four Seas ice cream store.
