Description

Beautiful 19th century home, on almost one acre of land, close to three of Cape Cod's best beaches, on Cape Cod Bay and in the charming village of Dennis. Enjoy privacy, artful landscaping, and in-ground swimming pool. The perfect location: Easy access to village, golf courses, summer theater, movie house and museum. Many restaurants, from upscale to informal pizza, within a few miles and scores of antique stores within ten miles.

A renter comments: ''The house and bedroom configuration were perfect for our family. The pool was great, especially during the hot weather. Having the Disney Channel for the kids was also great. The location was perfect, with easy access to Mayflower Beach, where we did a lot of walking at all hours and collected a lot of shells. We liked the table in the kitchen where a cool breeze was always flowing in, making it very pleasant, even in the hottest weather. We definitely would like to rent the house next year. Are you taking reservations yet?''

Wonderful Experience, Lots of Extras - Walk to the Beach- Great Pool

This house is so nice, felt so at home as soon as I walked in.
The pool is an extra bonus, kids love it after dinner when on the beach all day!
Cozy rooms, and very homey. Large driveway, and large yard. Great for kids to play in the yard all afternoon!
Ping Pong table and water toys for the pool, a great bonus!
Will be going back for 3rd year in 2015!

Guest review from Adriana Roche on 7/6/2011 for a stay in June 2011. "I stayed at this Dennis house for a week in June 2011. I must start by saying that this house looks great in the picture BUT it looks way better in person! It's a big house, very cheerful ( not depressing at all) and it offers a lot in it. We had a bad weather pretty much the whole week but we still had a great time since this house is located conveniently close to a lot of great shopping, great dining and entertainment. Also it is located in a very nice area of Dennis. Very peaceful. The house was very clean and smelled great. This house has a gorgeous pool and a huge property which is well groomed. I have nothing but great things to say about my stay at this Dennis house. I will definitely go back. The owner is also very attentive, organized and friendly. He called us the day we got there to make sure everything was ok and if there was anything we needed. If you have kids (especially) this house will be just perfect. It has so much to offer for a great family vacation and also for a romantic one since it's quiet, spacious, and it offers a wonderful atmosphere. You will not be disappointed here. Thanks again, Phil!" show more show less

After hearing from other people about the bad weather they had on the Cape we were a bit anxious, but our weather was perfect. The kids were in the pool every day, and the bay was perfect for swimming in the late afternoon. The biggest hit with the kids was the ping pong table, as it was last year. Between that and the pool (and of course their occupation with their laptops), they were fully engaged. We ate at the usual places, including Chapin’s, Marshside, the Lost Dog, and Sesuit Harbor Café. Of course we grilled the famous steaks from the Dennis Public Market, which are always as good as we remember. We had guests, who agreed that they were the best. One new thing we did was fishing. We talked about it in previous years but never got around to it. We went on The Albatross out of Sesuit Harbor, which was very convenient. They have a morning and afternoon voyage, but we prefer the morning, which leaves at 8:30. It’s run by a man with his three young sons, and they do a really good job of helping people who have never fished before. A nice family business, and even the people who didn’t catch anything had a good time. You fish for flounder, and we caught enough to feed the adults. The kids got their food from Captain Frosty’s, which I should have praised in previous years. We call and order and then go and pick it up. Anyway, along with the flounder we had an eel that one of the boys caught. We also caught a hake, a skate, and baby sharks, which went back into the deep. It’s definitely something we’ll do again. It costs $32 but with the coupon from the Cape booklet it’s down to $30 – a good price for four hours of entertainment. You can’t even see a play Off Off Broadway for that. A poll among the eight of us indicated that everyone had a great time, and they love your house. So we’d like to reserve our week for next year. According to my calendar, that’s the week of August 7 to 14. Please put us down for that. show more show less

Once again, thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. It was the perfect combination of comfort and luxury (for kids & Justin--luxury was the pool, for me-- it was the antique house, grounds and cooking amenities!) The pool was especially great during the first part of the week when the weather was brutal but too overcast for the beach. It was equally enjoyed on beach days for early morning swims and post beach lounging! As mentioned, we'd love to rent two weeks next year. Hopefully, you received a good 'departure' report from the cleaning service. We have great respect for both the home's historical significance and your diligence in addressing any problems, so together with a 'keep it clean' mandate to the kids, your cleaning service should have had minimal work. I'm sorry we didn't connect in person, but hopefully there will be many summers in which to do that. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of the season and thanks again. show more show less

I have been renting out my house since 2003 and I am happy to say that renters are typically very pleased with the house. This year 50% of the renters are returnees, not at all unusual for the house. I've had about five families over the years who have returned for 8 years or more (one this year is coming back for the 12th year), which strikes me as a nice testament to the property. I make it a practice to call the family on the first day to ensure that everything is all right, and I like to think (and have been told) that I am deeply committed to resolving any might hamper interfere with a great vacation. I think that's the least that I can do to make sure that the renter's money is well spent -- and that they will return.

What is special about this property?
The swimming pool seems to be a great drawing card. In addition, the property has a very large side yard (one renter refers to it as ''the football field'') for frisbee, soccer, bocce, etc., and it has a ping pong table in the garage. The house is also unusual in that it has a large room, with four beds, for kids. Also, many families like the screened in porch and the outdoor shower. For readers, it has a broad selection of books, and the cable system includes almost all of the premium channels (HBO, Showtime, Starz, etc.)

What is special about your town?
Dennis is a wonderful town with many nearby restaurants (including two very cool independent coffee shops), antique stores, grocery stores, movie theaters, the country's oldest summer theater (Cape Cod Playhouse) -- and at least four public beaches. For those not familiar with the Cape, these are Bay Side beaches, great for kids because at low tide the water goes waaay out, perfect for long walks or runs on the flats and hunting for shells. And on hot days when the tide comes in during the afternoon, the sun heats the flats, making for relatively warm water (far warmer than on the ocean side). Dennis is very nicely situated in the middle of the Cape, providing fairly easy access to the extremes of the Cape, Provincetown on one end, Sandwich on the other, as well as Hyannis (15 minutes away), which has its own charms and boats to take you for a get-away to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard.
