Description

Location! Location! Location! Private access to pristine Depot Pond. Charming, traditional cottage on nearly one acre facing Depot Pond. Located on the quiet Mill Road neighborhood adjoining the Eastham Historical District. Park your car and walk or ride your bike to the best of Cape Cod. New owners have completed a top to bottom renovation including new flooring, bathrooms, kitchen, appliances, and furniture. No pets please (including dogs, cats, snakes, parakeets, gerbils, etc.)

The House - First floor: Sunken living room with fireplace. Master bed room with queen bed and newly renovated private 3/4 bath. The kitchen was completely renovated in January 2021 with new white cabinets, quartz countertops, beautiful tile floor, and new major appliances. Well equipped with microwave, toaster, coffee maker, plenty of dishes and glassware. Adjoining is a small family room with flat screen TV. The utility room has new washer and dryer and an outside entrance leading to the backyard and patio.

The house - Second Floor. New heart pine flooring. Bathroom newly renovated with full bath. BR #1 has queen bed, perfect for adult couple. BR#2 with bunk beds (2 twin beds) and another twin bed and play area - great for kids. BR#3 is quite cozy (small!) with a twin bed (could be swapped out for a crib on request).

More photos available upon request.

Outdoors. Patio with dining table and gas grill. Walk across the street and down a short private pathway for a swim on crystal-clear Depot Pond. The sandy beach slopes gently and is ideal for small children, while adults might enjoy a more challenging 2/3 mile swim across the pond and back.

Location. Park the car and forget the Route 6 traffic! The best of Cape Cod is an easy bike ride or walk. Ride your bikes to the Cape Cod Rail Trail, just half a mile down the road. Ride or hike the the bike trail less then 2 miles to Coast Guard Beach, called one of the country's finest beaches; almost the entire route is on protected bike trails. Bay swimming at First Encounter beach is also an easy 2 mile bike ride. Little kids will enjoy gentle swimming at Great Pond, an easy walk, less then a mile away.

Just 100 yards up the road you will find Eastham Superette, a family-owned grocery and general store featuring many of life's necessities: groceries, beer and wine, Sunday papers. Pick up sandwiches for the beach at their deli! A little further down the road is the new Eastham Library with a wide range of programs for both children and adults.

    Delightful Visit

We had a great stay here! We had plenty of space for our family of four plus two friends. The pond across the street was a huge bonus for us. The kids loved kayaking, canoeing, fishing and swimming (the owners were generous enough to allow us to use their kayak, canoe, large floats and kids life jackets). We rented SUPs and really enjoyed them on the pond as well. The ocean and bay are a short drive away. In the mornings we enjoyed runs to the bay and along the bike trail. We had such nice time that we booked a second week later in the summer! Great home and great location! show more show less

    Delightful, relaxing visit

Our two families of three had a wonderful time at this home, which has been perfectly renovated to feel bright, clean and open while still retaining it's old-time charm. The owners have done a marvelous job and the property itself was perfectly situated near quiet Depot Pond, which we used almost every day for swimming, paddling and fishing.

It's a great location near the national seashore beaches and relatively close to Orleans and Wellfleet. We had a fantastic week here.

A peaceful & perfectly located haven!

This quaint, well-appointed and comfortable cottage has everything a family could wish for as a base from which to enjoy a tranquil and laid-back Cape vacation, whilst taking advantage of all the area has to offer. So easy to drive up, drop the bags, and feel like you live there! Location couldn't be more perfect other than water frontage itself. Long Pond outlook just across the street out the front door, and a quick 2 minute walk to the pond itself down a quiet pathway. . . beautiful sunsets.

Walk to the windmill / park / library / superette. Rent bicycles from Little Capistrano and you can roam far and wide to visit neighboring towns along the trail, ride to Coast Guard Beach for the ocean, First Encounter Beach for the bay, Salt Pond Nature Center 5 mins away, etc.

The freshly renovated home is spacious, light-filled, has all new furnishings and fixtures, comfortable beds, clean lines. Separate family gathering spaces at front and back of house are nice for mixed age groups that want some separation. Lovely outdoor patio dining out back. Kitchen is well stocked with implements most any cook will desire. We so savored the true essence of Cape Cod in this wonderful home last summer, and plan to return!

Charming Cottage in a Perfect Location

If you are looking for Cape Cod charm in a perfect location, this is the cottage for you. Located in a peaceful setting on a country road, the cottage is 5 minute walk from the windmill in Eastham and just around the corner from Capistrano bicycle rentals. The Cape Cod Seashore National Park is only a short walk or bike ride away. If you like to swim, the cottage has a private access to Depot Pond across the street. The sandy, shallow shoreline of the pond is excellent for young children and the water is pristine. If you are into birding, the Cape has numerous bird watching opportunities along the Atlantic seashore, the bay, and the marshes. But if you want to just chill out at home, you can enjoy a variety of birds, and a rabbit or two, from the secluded patio behind the cottage.

Eastham is conveniently located between Orleans and Wellfleet. There are a number of great restaurants within a short drive of the cottage but we found the kitchen of the cottage was so well equipped (including a gas grill), we preferred exploring the nearby seafood markets and making dinner feasts of seafood that we can’t get fresh back home. Indeed, we like to cook and felt very much at home in the cottage kitchen. At night, if not exhausted, we enjoyed movies on the large flat-screened TV.

The cottage is uncluttered, squeaky clean, and everything looks freshly painted. While it has been completely updated, the cottage still maintains a historic charm with its wood plank flooring, built-in cabinets, and original hardware. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are spotless.

This is the perfect cottage for a laid-back family vacation at the Cape, and I just can’t wait to return!

Jean Mitchell and Greg deLissovoy live in the Washington DC suburbs (Maryland). We have been second homeowners in Eastham since 1997. Our first home was down the street at 325 Mill Road. We sold that house in 2002 and purchased the house at 185 Mill Road which has 300 feet of pond frontage. We renovated 185 Mill Road over the next several years and have rented this house during the summer for 18 years. We purchased this home at 180 Mill Road in January 2016 and completely renovated the house. We renovated the kitchen at 180 Mill Road in January 2021 with new cabinets, appliances and countertops. It is directly across the street from our house located at 185 Mill Road. The property at 180 Mill Road has access to pristine Depot Pond which is enjoyable for swimming, boating and fishing.

What is special about this property?
180 Mill Road has a beautiful yard. The patio has an enclosed screen porch so one can enjoy being outside without the bugs. The inside of the house was completely renovated in the winter/spring of 2016 including two new bathrooms, all new windows, new wood floors and tile.
