Waterfront Beach House on Cape Cod Bay, Panoramic Sunsets

We rented this house for a week in 2021. House is nice and comfortable with a few high end finishes. Location is directly on the Bay. Not disclosed in listing is that you must climb down a ladder on side of retaining wall to get on the beach. About 8 rungs and impossible to carry anything down with you. Very unsafe for children and elderly. The real issue was the lease stated a 6 person maximum overnight and a 10 person daytime guests maximum. We planned our stay with 4 adult children and friends to follow this rule. On our second day, the owner appears on the back deck unannounced (he was picking up trash, due to not contracting trash pickup). He was questioning and accusing us because there were 5 cars in driveway! Told him my adult children all have cars and were coming down and leaving at different times during week. At that time there was 6 people there, 2 were there for day! Told him to count heads, if so compelled! As it was 11am, we were actually entitled to have 10 people anyway! As I said we planned to keep within the terms of lease. Lease also states that owner may not come onto property without notice unless emergency. So apparently, owner doesn't think contract applies to him! We paid a lot of money to rent here to then be spied on and hassled. Then, we expected our $500 deposit back in reasonable amount of time. Lease says he has 30 days. Waited until 29th day and texted owner. His response was that he was busy and had forgotten! He Said, of course he would refund entire amount because we left the place in clean, great condition! Too busy raking in rental monies to refund people's deposits in an appropriate amount of time?!

Fantastic vacation!

What a gem! The location is just perfect, and the house is great! First; location. Absolutely gorgeous views from the huge deck, as well as from many other rooms in the house. The location provides panoramic views of ocean, land and dunes. Lovely. The water is clear, and low tide provides great opportunities for walking and exploring grassy and rocky areas. Perfect for kids of any age, or adults as well. We could launch our kayaks right from the beach outside the house, and felt comfortable leaving the kayaks and other gear at the shore front all week without worry. Please note, that as with most bay side beaches, the water covers most if not all of the beach at high tide. However, you can still swim at any time, as the water is clear, shallow and safe even at high tide. The deck wraps around 3/4 of the cottage and provides both sun and shade for most, if not all of the day. As for the interior of the cottage, we loved the eclectic decorating. A nice mix of contemporary and New England Cape style. The layout of the cottage allows for folks to spread out and do their own thing or to hang together. There is a huge collection of CD's as well as DVD's for all audiences. The kitchen was beyond well-equipped with matching dishes, an amazing (industrial?) toaster and toaster oven, nice coffee maker, and quiet dishwasher. In other words, everything you could ever want or need. The bathrooms are quite lovely (tile and glass) and having rented on the Cape for over 25 years, this is the best shower (water pressure and plenty of hot water) that I have ever seen in a rental. As a last thought, I am very picky about cleanliness in rentals, and I considered this cottage to be very, very clean! We will definitely be returning to this wonderful home!!!
