Whitehaven Cottage, A Few Steps from Private Beach

After searching for many places along the Cape Cod bay, this was the only place that was following COVID guidelines and leaving the house empty for a day between guests. They had strict cleaning policies which made us feel safe during this pandemic. That alone should be good enough reason to rent this place.

About the house: The house is really small, but does the job. It is very close to a beautiful beach, although the beach is very rocky and the water really cold. This is not a vacation town with renters. All the neighbors are residents and were very nice. If you are looking for a quite, family friendly vacation with no loud parties, this is the place. The beach is private but you are only allowed on one side (left at the end of the stairs). The other side is private for the specific houses and the people get picky if you sit on their side of the beach and will ask you to leave. Even on the weekends, the beaches did not get crowded, another plus during this pandemic. Besides being so close to the beach, it is also centrally located to many other places like Plymouth and Cape Cod. I found the local restaurant and activities to be very reasonably priced, unlike Cape Cod.

The only negative is that this place does need some updating. The bathroom was very old and the air conditioning are those very loud window units. Overall, this place is a great value. I look forward to coming back. show more show less

Thanks to Cheryl & Ron, your house suited our needs perfectly. We appreciated it's upkeep and all the amenities provided, and were especially happy to find the bbq grill to be clean (unlike other properties we've rented in the past).

We loved visiting the beach across the street with our dog, and the convenient location to many other beaches (we found a new favorite in Scusset Beach). Our seafood dinner from Rockbottom Seafood was delish, and also enjoyed lobster purchased for a great price at Market Basket by the bridge.

Met a few of the neighbors (all were very friendly), and hope to become part of your group of repeat visitors in the coming years.

I spent a week with my dog last summer. The location is great with beach access right across the street and views of the bay from the enclosed porch. No crowds on the beach and everybody from the owners to the neighbors were very friendly. The house is well appointed and clean. The beds were uncomfortable though and I would recommend having one of the rooms with a double or queen. I did push 2 singles together but they kept coming apart and were soft.

This beach house is great. It is located close enough to Cape Cod and just far enough from Cape Cod for me. Don't want to deal with Cape Cod traffic? Don't deal with it -- explore Plymouth, MA instead during the weekend. Head for the Cape on Monday without the traffic.

The beach is located across the road and down about 50 steps. This beach might as well be private. You will see very few other people at this beach. The beach is located on Cape Cod Bay, so the waves are very small if any... show more show less
