Description

This small guest house has a queen size bed and bath with shower. Across a small court yard enclosed with a wall of murals is a working artist's studio with a huge window looking out at Wellfleet Harbor and a three spire sculpture. It has a small area for cooking with a two burner electric counter top, toaster oven, a microwave, apartment size refrig and a small dining table. There are two IKEA lounge chairs, basic cable TV/DVD and a radio. The four walls hold a variety of sizes of drawings and paintings. The view of the harbor, the two buildings and courtyard between warm the heart, and two Renii gas heaters warm the rest. IT IS QUIET AND PRIVATE.

A tennis court is available on the property. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!! It is an easy twenty minute walk along the shoreline crossing over Uncle Tim’s footbridge to the village of Wellfleet where there is a market.

Both contemporary buildings were designed by an architect (my son)
and were built about 10 years ago. They are located on the other side of a wooded area of birch, pine and oak trees, about 100 feet from the main house The property has four acres (actually six, two are marsh and mud flats!) all are at the end of a cul-de-sac. They exude privacy.

This retreat is only available September through the middle of June... BY THE WEEK ONLY.

Many restaurants are closed but there are recommended ones in Wellfleet, Orleans, Truro and Provincetown. September is our favorite month of the year. During the winter months on Saturdays there is HD METROPOLITAL OPERA at WHAT THEATER. There are other WHAT THEATER programs during the fall, winter and spring weeks as well. It is a ten minute walk from the property. The Wellfleet Library has been awarded five star status. Off season It offers a variety of programs. Come here after a light winter storm and experience the beauty of the Cape landscape under a blanket of snow.

This is a private guest house and studio offering every possible item for an enjoyable experience. Read reviews. You read the reviews of the main house offered in the summer season by going to property #7172.

Our Third Visit

Our third stay at the "cubes" encompassed two weeks rather than our traditional one. Our love of the area only deepened. Sunsets from the "bench"; views from the enormous window overlooking the bay; walks to town over Uncle Tim's Bridge and daily seal sightings, great blue heron feeding in the marsh; fiddler crabs scrambling at low tide = perfect relaxation. Kayaks provided by the owner allowed us to explore Duck Creek where it meets Wellfleet Bay. The quiet patio area with views of the bay provided a retreat for reading and bird watching. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was lovingly provided; we were encouraged to contact the owner for anything else we needed. The cubes are a gem. We will return as long as Steve allows. show more show less

Peace and quiet in an architect-designed dwelling

We've been coming to Wellfleet for 20 years and loved this rental. The location is perfect, close to town but in a quiet, secluded area right on the bay. Steve welcomed us warmly and saw to it that our needs were met. The bed was extremely comfortable, the showers piping hot, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The views of woods, gardens and bay through large windows were beautiful. We enjoyed the birds at the birdfeeder and the fox that trotted through the courtyard every morning. The architect-designed sleeping and living "cubes," with a courtyard in between, are very special and gave a sense of spaciousness and a connection to Cape Cod Modern architecture that was really a thrill. And the original art on the walls made us feel right at home (we are artists). We would definitely return. show more show less

Needed a break

My wife and I are retired but had an unusually hectic summer with grandchildren, hospital and doctors visits, sick parent and children. You get the idea!!! We just needed a break so we could breathe. This was the ideal!! Quiet, serene, with beautiful sunsets from a private bench on the shore of the harbor where we could actually talk without interruption while watching the gulls and great blue heron. We caught up on our reading, had wine and cheese for an afternoon late lunch and then a quiet walk along the beach, through a small wooded island, and over Uncle Tom's Bridge to the restaurant for an outstanding dinner at a quiet restaurant. One evening we walked to WHAT, Welfleet Harbor Actors Theatre, an outstanding venue for "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." Another evening we went to a program at the Welfleet Library that was a standing room only. This is a gem and perfect for one or two people. We will return. show more show less

Details matter!

Just returned from 4 days in Wellfleet and Steve's cottage is a great spot for rest and relaxation! The property has wonderful views of Wellfleet Harbor from the bedroom and studio and is a short walk (.50 mi) over Uncle Tim's Bridge into town. Both buildings are filled with interesting art work and details such as candles, flowers, and eclectic books and magazines. The bed was also very comfortable and the area is quiet at night for sleeping. Steve is a cordial and accommodating host and very customer service focused. There are also kayaks available for guest to use. Wonderful and peaceful place--we will return. show more show less

WOW-Welfleet Paradise

From the moment I spoke with Steve on the phone, I knew this would be a special place and a wonderful trip. As a stressed out New Yorker in need of a few days of R&R Steve could not have been more friendly, welcoming, generous, and accommodating. There were fresh flowers and candles waiting along with a welcome letter that covered all bases. Steve is the quintessential Cape Cod host! The guest house and adjacent artist studio/living area are charming with warm furnishings, creature comforts, and large windows to take in stunning Cape views that include Wellfleet Harbor. A walk down by the water, over Tim's bridge and you are in Wellfleet where you can find anything you need--The Lighthouse is great for breakfast. I loved the guest house & studio design, the courtyard with an inspiring mural painted by Steve and other local friends in honor of a resident who shared her talent with so many, (Steve can tell you all about it) outdoor shower and the feeling of being outside while in. This is truly a magical place to stay and I look forward to extending my next trip to much more than a few days. I have been vacationing on the Cape since I could walk and have stayed in many places, this is one that I will return to again and again. WOW-perfect and a wonderful host-what more can you ask for! I have rented various properties in Wellfleet for many years. Retired from Framingham State University as an art professor I continue to create a variety of subjects and media that usually end up on the walls. Three grown children, one an architect, designed three houses over the years in Wellfleet.
I throughly enjoy making my own living environment as perfect as I can. This of course benefits those who come here in the summer months. If you read the reviews you will see I have a wonderful relationship with all who come here....and I so very much enjoy the whole experience and they do too.

What is special about this property?
Location, location, that is a large plus. The 4 acres (Actually 6 acres but 2 are in the marsh and harbor!) with many trees providing privacy. The separation of the bedrooms also provides privacy. Every room has a view of the harbor. There is a sand box with toys and swing located near the deck so you can watch the children. There is a substantial library filled with classic literature from Moby Dick to Middlemarch and a small collection of classics for children plus a collection of board games. Tennis rackets and balls too.
And the mighty Atlantic and its magnificent beaches...just ten minutes away with no traffic lights between! Beach chairs, umbrellas and picnic coolers are here too.

What is special about your town?
It is a 15 to 20 minute walk along the shore to Uncle Tim's footbridge and to the village. The Main Street has the town hall, a market, bank and shops. Preservation Hall has a variety of events. The outdoors at the Winslow Tavern in the center of the town is a perfect setting for a movie! Shade trees and good food. It is a must!
The marina, that you see from the house, has a walkway around the perimeter. Try it.
There are three kayaks, and an old canoe for your use. At high tide I suggest heading towards town and Uncle Tim's bridge. If high tide and no wind you can kayak to Mac's Seafood at the marina. Food recommended. This is a save place for for children. No traffic, 4 acres to roam about.
