Our family has been coming to Wellfleet for more than 25 years and are in love with this beautiful getaway spot. We are a family of 4 - Lisa, an architect and a jeweler, Andy a medical engineer and 2 sons, Max and Eli. Max was just engaged to Rachel in the summer of 2016 on the beach in front of the house. We live and work just outside Boston and enjoy coming to the Wellfleet in the off-season and early summer. We are delighted to share our rental home with you.
What is special about this property?
By far the most notable feature of the house are the views. When we came to view the house before buying it, we had no idea that you could see both the sunrise and the sunset from the wraparound deck. This is a really rare property - that does not occur many places at all. The orientation of the house is such that the deck is perfect for sitting outside in the early evening for a gorgeous sunset. People ask all the time, ''How do you ever leave?''.... It is hard. From each bedroom, from each bed there are spectacular water views... it is hard to beat for a relaxing spot. At night on clear nights the stars are not to be beat as well.
The house is a super-simple house, it's easy to take care of and low maintenance, which is great. The last thing we want to do down here is work. We use the outdoor shower all the time, it cuts down on 90% of the sand coming into the house... that is half the battle.
What is special about your town?
Wellfleet is a really sweet place. It has a main street with a little bit of everything - a town hall, full-service grocer, several restaurants, gift shops, galleries, a fantastic community arts facility - Preservation Hall. The Library is downtown, a homemade ice cream shop, fish store, liquor shop, bank, yoga and massage studio, pizza place.
Wellfleet is famous for it's Flea Market and it's authentic Drive-In Movie Theatre... there is a regular cinema too. I think 75% of the land in town in conservation area, there are gorgeous paths to walk and sanctuaries to visit. Kayaking is popular here as is sailing and fishing. This is the home of the famous Wellfleet Oyster. There is also a great theatre company in town, WHAT, Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theatre. And we're 20 minutes from Provincetown where there is always something going on. There is always something to do and always plenty of nothing to do too.
Wellfleet offers the best of Cape Cod shops and galleries and the very finest beaches in the country.
