This midcentury casual Cape home, located in the exclusive gated community of Great Island, underwent a renovation in 2023, so much of it is new in summer 2024. I need to post new photos, so our older ones will have to give you a sense of the place, a mood and Cape-y theme which the renovation preserves, but bumped up a couple of notches in comfort and vibe. The exterior won't change, including the large deck that runs in the back of the house, ensuring maximum privacy. Till I can post new photos, let me say that the house is 100 yards from a private beach on Lewis Bay and a five minute walk to either of two private beaches on Nantucket Sound, all within the security of our exclusive gated community of only 50 homes. Access is restricted to allow only residents and their guests. In other words, no one can get into our neighborhood or beaches unless they are owners or renters, or invited. Security service is maintained 24/7. It's peaceful, quiet, and private.
The back deck, which runs full length of house, is surrounded by trees. The front of the house faces undeveloped conservation land lush with Cape foliage. The Lewis Bay beach has gentle waves and exceptionally warm water, and is ideal for children; it is only four houses away from ours. Sunsets on this beach are spectacular and a special perk of this location; the 4th of July Hyannis fireworks visible across from and reflected in the Bay are another special gift of our location. The interior of the house is easy to maintain, a true beach cottage with all the modern amenities for a relaxing vacation.
The house is equipped with newly re-installed Central Air conditioning, complementing our recently renovated interior. We have a commercial grade dehumidifier under the house. The interior boasts an all new kitchen and new bathrooms; counters are granite-topped in both areas. All appliances are new to 2023. All floors are new or refinished this season. The three bedrooms are furnished with Queen-sized beds in two of the bedrooms; with two twins beds in the third bedroom. Bedrooms are fully furnished with lamps and nightstands and dressers and provided with pillows, sheets, and light blankets; all have dresser mirrors and there are full-length mirrors in two bedrooms. Each bedroom has a large closet with hangers.
The large living room offers a three-section sofa with two matching facing comfy reading chairs and a large ottoman. These cluster around the 65'' flat screen smart tv. A separate seating area with upholstered rockers and foot rest sit on either side of a round glass table at the entry to the living room.
The mud room/family room has a second flat tv and seating for viewing or reading, with a door onto the deck.
The laundry area with new washer and dryer is in that part of the house, as is the second bath.
The kitchen opens to the dining room with a table to seat six and a slider door to the deck for easy access to the gas grille.
The back deck that runs the length of the house is furnished with a dining table for six, with sun umbrella; a discrete seating area with two Adirondack chairs and a drinks table. Right there is a 3-burner Weber natural gas grill hooked up to our home's natural gas supply that never needs replenishment, as propane tanks do. The large outdoor shower with hot and cold water and plank bench is on this back deck. This furniture in this deck area is refinished this season. Beyond it is a raised deck with railings two steps up provided with two longue chaises and moveable sun umbrella, and another seating area with two new chairs and drinks table. A white rocker with its own side table may be placed where preferred, and rounds out our outdoor collection. Dining table chairs, chaise longues, and seating in the upper deck all have cushions, which are stored in a cushion keeper in the attached garage when not in use. We are having the deck rebuilt this spring, so it will be new for summer use.
We supply beach linens, beach umbrellas and beach chairs, as well as a beach buggy to get all the day's beach needs down to which ever of our beaches you choose to visit that day. We supply all bed linens and pillows. We do not supply personal bath towels; guests must bring their own. Cleaning costs for changeover Saturdays are included in the rental fee.
Vehicles and families are registered with security for the duration of your stay; this is to insure your privacy and protection, and that of Great Island residents. We have onsite parking for four vehicles, two in our driveway and two in the overflow parking at the edge of our property.
Our private roads are a delight for biking, birding, running and long walks. read more show less
