The large, sunny lawn is an idyllic setting for children to play - the perfect place for creating those fond summer memories of childhood. The Bird Bath combines unlimited family fun & adventure with an ambiance of yesteryear. A wonderful and inviting residence which has a secluded private feel yet is just a 10 minute walk from beautiful Jetty Beach which is located across from the East Chop Yacht Club. Sailing lessons are taught daily. The East Chop Tennis Club has 8 clay tennis courts also offers lessons. This majestic and stately manor offers a tranquil, peaceful, wooded setting, just the right spot to make your own special memories. An enchanted dwelling, which boasts an enormous front porch, a welcoming place to relax and unwind. Our front porch is ideal for enjoying the soothing Martha’s Vineyard sea breezes. Visit us and create traditions and memories which will last a lifetime.
Recently, the entire interior of our home was freshly painted and the harwood floors refinished, bathrooms tiled, along with many other renovations. New appliances have also been added (including refrigerator, washer, dryer, hot water heater). We hope you will appreciate the extra polish on this gem.
This hidden Island paradise overlooks serene Sumner Park. East Chop is strategically nestled between the towns of Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven. On the other side of the harbor, less than a half mile away, is Oak Bluffs. Oak bluffs offers: bike rentals, fishing, shopping, dining, nightlife, and deep sea fishing. Farm Neck golf course is also close by. Your outside activities are only limited by your imagination.
Access to the ferry and island wide public transportation is also available. Oak Bluffs has one of the oldest antique carousels in the nation. There are many diverse and eclectic events open to the public. Art shows abound & there are free concerts in the Tabernacle. Annual fireworks and the spectacular 'Illumination Night' are not to be missed.
Many artists find themselves overwhelmed and inspired by the beautiful Martha's Vineyard scenery. Whatever your idea of relaxation is, the Vineyard has it. We are certain you will fall in love with this magical place and come back again and again.
This is our family home, we are a beach house. Our large Victorian is full of light & clean lines. Our decor is comfortable, casual and child friendly. As mentioned, we have all appliances and amenities, however, we are not a high tech home nor are we ''Baby Proof''. We provide all linens except towels.
We do not allow smoking, pets or large groups. We cannot accommodate more than 12 people. Families are encouraged, children are welcomed. Our home is not baby proof, so guests with small children should plan accordingly. There is plenty of space for everyone. We offer a substantial discount for monthly and multiple week guests.
A vacation to remember! This was our first time on the Vineyard and we could not have been more pleased with our vacation rental. We loved everything about this beach house. The house is large and roomy, lots of space to spread out and lots of places to curl up and read. Every room is charming and beautifully decorated. The house is in a great location - a short walk to the beach and to the center of Oak Bluffs. The owners went out of their way to make us feel at home. Comfortable, cozy and charming. A perfect beach retreat. Many thanks to the Whitmans from Pam J and family.

BEACH HOUSE DELIVERS
We had a fantastic vacation. We were very impressed with the property; which was actually larger and more beautiful than pictured. We had plenty of room to spread out, and the kids were thrilled with their rooms. Everything that was promised was here, and more. My wife loved the screened in back porch for coffee and paper in the morning; while I loved the enormous front porch for dinner and cocktails. We both enjoyed the large dining room for family gatherings. It was especially wonderful to have such a large yard for the kids to play in. We felt we didn't have to worry about the children in such a safe environment. We could walk to the beach; or town for ice cream and movies. The kids really enjoyed the "Flying Horses" carousel. We loved the Vineyard and the Whitman's House, we will definitely be back next summer. We would like to thank the Whitman Family for their hospitality.
Thank you very much, Robert

The pictures of this home are great, but they do not do it justice; or tell the whole story. This was by far, the nicest rental we have stayed in since visiting the Vineyard. The owners and their caretaker were responsive, helpful and friendly. This was the best experience we've had renting on the Vineyard. The house was better than described. It was very large, full of sunshine, clean, fresh and easy to maintain; not to mention a 10 minute walk to the beach or town! Additionally, the house was large enough, so there was always someplace: yard, porch, sun room, living room, screened in lanai, or reading alcove - to find privacy and solitude, even when vacationing with a large family or friends. The kitchen was well equipped (with two full size refrigerators') and easy to cook in. The bathrooms were lovely, especially the tall glass shower two old claw foot bathtubs for soaking and the outside shower was great. What can beat showering under the stars! We will definitely be returning. I have already recommended "The Bird Bath" to friends. This was truly a home away from home! Karen K.
