This is the view of Windswept from the entrance of a winding path that is carved thru our meadow of native grasses. The path leads to a dirt road that goes directly to a harbor beach in Monomoy. The lawn is perfect for soccer games or kite flying. A hammock is waiting under the pines trees for those afternoon siestas.
One set of sliding doors off the brick patio, leads into a comfy family room, centered around a brick fireplace with a TV and closets full of board games, lawn toys, videos and foul weather gear.
The other patio doors enter into Windswept's west wing which includes a more formal living room full of nautical antiques, the ''Meadow'' king ensuite bedroom, a wet bar and the dining area. The dining room has a large, hand decoupaged trestle table that seats 14. This is the spot to enjoy wonderful, lingering meals watching the bright red skies of a Nantucket sunset.
The eat-in kitchen is next to the family room and is totally equipped with essentials such as a microwave, ice machine, china service for 20 (non breakable for children), lobster pots and vases. A large deck with tables, cushioned chairs and a BBQ, catches the sun all day and is off the kitchen and family room.
The ''Red, White and Blue'' bedroom (another ensuite king bedroom) has a sitting area overlooking the lawn, meadow and view of Nantucket. This bedroom's bathroom has a cool soaking tub and large glass-bricked shower.
The second floor deck is off the ''Shell'' bedroom and is THE place to enjoy cocktails after a busy day relaxing.
Another path leads away from Windswept to a cute, compact cottage called ''Whim''. Whim has a large king bedroom, cozy living room with a fireplace and TV, a galley kitchen and a large, sky lit bunk room upstairs.
Windswept's pebble-tec pool area has lots of lounge chairs and tables and a bath house with changing rooms, a bathroom and outdoor shower.
Our tennis court '' Whimbleton'', is set among shrub oaks and pine trees but close enough for a dip in the pool after a game of tennis.
The network of dirt roads thru Shimmo are wonderful for walkers, going by spectacular houses just steps from the beach lined harbor. Shimmo beach offers shell collecting opportunities while enjoying wonderful views of Nantucket Town and all the activity of the busy harbor.
