Many of the residents of Aquinnah are descendants of the Wampanoag Indians who helped
the first colonial settlers survive on the island. The Tribe’s ancestral lands have always been
on the southwestern end on Noepe which is the Indian name for Martha’s Vineyard. The
brilliant colors of the Aquinnah Cliffs, a National Landmark, are one of the most notable sites
on the island delighting tourists and scientists alike. |
