Dennis was once a sea-faring town. Today, many of the elegant captains’ homes are restaurants and museums.
Dennis encompasses both the north and south side of the Cape, with Cape Cod Bay to the north and Nantucket Sound to the south. There are many beaches and several freshwater ponds. The Bass River flows along as the boundary between Dennis and Yarmouth.
Dennis is home to the Cape Playhouse, one of the oldest summer theaters in the country, and the Cape Museum of Fine Arts.
In late August, Dennis sponsors the Annual Festival Days, a town-wide celebration with parades, concerts, and races.
