Guide to Polpis vacation rentals

Polpis is one of the most scenic and pastoral areas of Nantucket and has abundant rolling brush, cranberry bogs, and natural beauty. Away from the hustle and bustle of town, Polpis is only four miles from the rotary just outside of town and easily accessible by the Polpis bike path.

A dirt path in Polpis takes you to Altar Rock, the highest point on the island. Enjoy the butterflies and birds along the way.

Another point of interest is the University of Massachusetts’ field station where research into the island’s ecology is conducted.

Nantucket's Life-Saving Museum is located at 158 Polpis Road on Folger’s Marsh. The museum tells the stories of those who risked their lives to rescue others.

Windswept Cranberry Bog – This 205-acre conservation area off Polpis Road is a beautiful tapestry of greens, reds, and golds and a sanctuary for many bird species. The bog is especially colorful in mid-October, when the cranberries are harvested.
