About 4th Annual Field of Honor...The Cape Cod AMVETS Post 333 and Chapter 96 of the Disabled American Veterans are sponsoring and organizing the Cape’s Fourth Annual FIELD of HONOR©. They are seeking local citizens to sponsor flags that recognize heroes in their lives. This free event displays of over 350, 3-by-5 foot flags on eight foot staffs at John Kelly Park from November 11, 2016 to the 13th. Each flag will honor personal heroes, ranging from active armed forces military personnel or veterans, police officers, and firefighters to community volunteers or one’s own personal champion. All proceeds are distributed to local veterans and/or charities in need. The Park is located at the corner of Old Bass River Rd. and Bob Crowell Rd. in South Dennis. The Sunday dedication ceremonies are well attended by local citizens, veterans, Dennis Fire and Police Chiefs, Town Selectmen and other dignitaries. It is an integral and moving part of the event. To honor a hero with a flag, sponsors can go to to purchase online or pick up an application at a local business or public facility. A limited number of flags will be available for purchase or renewal on site during the event. The sponsorship fee to own one’s own flag is $35 with an annual optional re-posting fee of $15 in future years.
