The objects collections of the MVM, donated or purchased over the past 80 years, includes over 30,000 items relating to all aspects of life on Martha’s Vineyard. The Martha's Vineyard Museum is steward of three of the Island's lighthouses. The Gay Head, East Chop, and Edgartown lighthouses are not historic remnants of a bygone age, but are working beacons that still send a light out into the night. The Edgartown and Gay Head Lighthouses have seasonal hours open to the public (see website for specific dates and times) and the East Chop Lighthouse is open for sunset on Sundays in-season. hide

The Martha's Vineyard Preservation Trust is a private, not-for-profit organization supported by contributions from the public and through management of our historic properties. All of these irreplaceable historic properties were badly deteriorated and, in many cases, threatened by demolition when the Martha's Vineyard Preservation Trust undertook their restoration and permanent care. hide
