This summer house on Chilmark Pond offers the best of the Vineyard-- a spectacular location on the pond with sweeping views of South Beach and hundreds of acres of protected conservation land. The home has ownership rights to a private South Beach which you can access by a short paddle across the pond or by private gated road. This is a great birding location and if the season is right you can catch blue crabs for dinner. South Beach is pristine and great for sunning, walking or swimming.
Three generations of our family have loved this house. It is a unique designer house, built for us in 1970, with multiple units which creates privacy in a summer home. The main unit has a great room for family gatherings, with with cathedral ceiling , huge picture windows with window seats on which to read, relax and enjoy the view. unit has three bedrooms a large dorm style on the second floor sleeps four and two bedrooms on the ground floor, one with queen size bed, the other two twin beds and bathroom with shower. Fully furnished with linens and towels. Outdoor shower. The house is set on decks which welcome one to outdoor reading, visiting and dining. This is not a fancy house but a warm and comfortable one.
The house is set on 6 acres, with mowed lawns front and back for games and recreation. You can take a look at the images below or look at the pictures for 35 Whiting Way, Chilmark on Google Maps. Chilmark Pond is a great place for kids to explore. There are two kayaks, a canoe and two small sailboats.
