Oak Bluffs is known for its whimsical "gingerbread" houses, many of which were built in the nineteenth century. A popular family vacation area, Oak Bluffs has several public parks, including Ocean Park with its live music throughout the summer. Children ride the Flying Horse Carousel built in 1876 and the oldest continuously operating carousel in the country.
Oak Bluffs Town Beach is a delightful family beach located an easy walk from downtown. With calm surf and soft sand, this beach is a nice place to linger while watching boats travel in and out of the harbor. Farm Neck Golf Club is the only 18-hole course on the Island.
Circuit Avenue in downtown Oak Bluffs is considered the liveliest place for visitors seeking late night entertainment. Oak Bluffs and Edgartown are the only two towns on the Island where alcohol may be purchased.
Located on the northern side of the island, Oak Bluffs provides ferry ride transportation to Cape Cod and Nantucket Island.

Service from Woods Hole, Hyannis, Nantucket and New Bedford daily year-round. Steamship Authority boats dock in the town of Vineyard Haven in the winter, and both Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs in the summer. This is the only line that accommodates cars and trucks.

Rhode Island - Vineyard Fast Ferry

Seasonal fast service from Quonset Point, Rhode Island, to Oak Bluffs aboard a 400 passenger high-speed catamaran. Ferry is 15 min. away from the Providence (PVD) Airport or 20 min. from Amtrak (KIN). Offers first-class amenities, advance reservations & dockside parking. May-Oct. with 2 to 3 round-trips daily.
