Photos & Description

Come enjoy a stay at this awesome house! This is a four-season vacation rental, a bright, cheerful house designed throughout for a relaxing stay. We are booked for the 2014 summer season, although we still have some dates in June and September. We are offering the week of August 30-September 6th at $1700 and will include a transferable ferry ticket for your car.

Tastefully furnished, well equipped, and lovingly maintained, this home is truly comfortable, child and pet friendly, and inviting. It is located exactly one mile from Vineyard Haven town center in the beautiful, peaceful West Chop setting. A bike ride into town is easy and enjoyable. The house is close to the 10A bus route (on Franklin Street) to Vineyard Haven and connecting buses to all parts of the island.

The entire house is air conditioned by a ductless, noiseless, mini-split system served by two efficient heat pumps. A/C is a really nice feature on those hot humid summer days. But when the weather isn't stifling, you have the option to turn off the A/C, open the windows and sliders, and enjoy the island breezes. Individual thermostats control the cooling in each bedroom and the upstairs great room. The five ceiling fans throughout the house enhance the cooling - whether or not you choose to use A/C.

Each bedroom and the upstairs great room are climate controlled in cool weather with individual thermostats. The house also has a back-up heating system. It is a comfortable home on a cool fall evening or a cold winter day.

The house is a reverse contemporary style of 2,000+ square feet. Upstairs is an open sky-lit living area with a gas ''wood-style'' stove, a stunning 44-inch Sony Bravia HDTV with Direct TV, Sony Blueray DVD and a great sound system. Three glass sliders open to a large deck overlooking the yard, gardens, and protected woodlands. This upstairs deck features a nice gas grill and two umbrella tables with seating for eight. The kitchen, half bath, and grand dining table (with seating for eight) are also upstairs. One upstairs sofa converts into a double bed. A self-inflating mattress is also available - there's plenty of space for it. Some of our guests say the upstairs living area is actually the nicest bedroom because you are just a few feet from the refrigerator and the large HDTV - and you wake up to a view of the trees!

Three bedrooms, each with a ductless air conditioning unit and a ceiling fan, are located downstairs. The master bedroom is a private suite with its own bath, Sony Bravia Hi Def TV and DVD, and glass slider to a delightful deck with rocking chairs and a view of the lawn and the woods. Another bedroom with twin single beds and hi def flatscreen TV/DVD also opens to the deck. And a lovely corner bedroom - so cozy with a comfy queen bed and another high def TV - is just across the hallway from another full bathroom. A convenient, new washer and dryer are also located downstairs in the bedroom area.

The house is tastefully carpeted in the living area and two bedrooms. The kitchen, dining area, and master bedroom are beautiful hardwood. The house's decor is subtle and the colors are neutral. All rooms are nicely decorated.

With ample linens, blankets, pillows, towels, beach blankets, umbrellas, and coolers, you don’t need to bring much with you to have an enjoyable Vineyard stay. We include a starter supply of paper towels, toilet tissue, soaps, laundry and dishwasher detergent, and garbage bags. The kitchen is totally equipped – with all the pots, pans, utensils, appliances, dishes, flatware, food storage containers, fine cutlery, and gadgets befitting the most demanding of chefs. A fine assortment of tools for grilling is available. The grill, a fabulous MHP, is connected to the house's gas line so you will never run out of propane.

The house has a portable crib with its own sheets and blankets, a high chair, and baby gates.

The house is equipped with unlimited long distance service to the US and Canada. It also has wireless Verizon DSL Internet service. And with four HDTVs and Blueray, you'll be well entertained.

The house features a walkout basement, which is a convenient place to store bikes. For guests who cannot bring their own bikes, there are five adult vintage Raleigh English bicycles available. Bike rentals shops are also nearby and they will actually deliver a bike to you.

We love dogs and families who have dogs. If you wish to bring your dog, please call and discuss it with us.

When booking in the wintertime, please give us about a week's advance notice for us to prepare the house for you.

Inside and out, summer, spring, winter, and fall, this home is a tranquil retreat that is a vacation destination itself.

Great Stay

I do not normally write reviews but I needed to share the wonderful experience we had. From the first contact with the owners to the actual stay, I felt we were taken care of. We were given all the information we needed before our vacation and the house just provided everything we could have asked for.

Great Vacation!

What an amazing vacation we had! This home is everything the owner tells you about. The house is spotless, contains everything from a fully equipped kitchen to all your linens and towels to beach chairs and umbrellas. Love the fact that the sleeping rooms are downstairs and the kitchen and family room is upstairs and is the whole 2nd floor with 3 sliding glass doors to the 2nd floor deck.
The location is perfect - walked to town and enjoy the shopping and the restaurants. Loved Mad Martha's Iced Cream and Murdick's Fudge, and the chowda' is great at MV Chowder Company in Oak Bluffs. Great meals every place we went. The beaches were really great - not crowded like they are at the Cape, some with waves and some that are really calm. Found the "Jaws" bridge. Would go back to this house in a heart beat!show moreshow less

10 years of vacationing at this home

We have enjoyed vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard for over twenty years. For the last 10 years we have stayed at this home. It has become a very comfortable place for us to visit. The home is clean and there is a lot of room to spread out including the decks on both levels. The owners have made several upgrades over the years including installing air-conditioning throughout. We spend lots of our time up-island and this location in Vineyard Haven is perfectly situated to allow you to explore the entire island. Perfect for young families. The owners are detail oriented and have always made sure we have an enjoyable time at their home.show moreshow less

Great summer vacation

I have stayed in this home for many years and it is a great place to stay for a wonderful vacation. You can walk to town or beach but it's close to beaches if you can drive. The place has all the amenities you could want wifi, cable, etc. The air conditioning this year was a great treat. I have never had a bad time. I reccommend this place highly.

Great memories made year after year

I have been enjoying this lovely house for years, and my family and friends and I have never been disappointed. It is a fabulous spot to share with friends and/or family. The open floor plan is ideal for doing things together whether it be creating a delicious meal, playing a game at the table, or watching a movie.

The location could not be better for taking walks, runs or bike rides. There is tennis in the neighborhood. And town and the library are minutes away on foot or by car.

The air conditioning was a timely addition as we were there during a heat wave, although the large ceiling fans are usually sufficient.
As we usually prefer to drive to the beach in order to bring along all of our gear, driving to the various island beaches never feels like a hardship.
