Enjoy the privacy and serenity of this 1.4 acre meadow overlook in the heart of the Vineyard's rural soul: Middle Road. At the juncture of Music Street, this two-building compound is near everything yet quiet, with no neighbor in sight. Walk to the twice-weekly Farmer's Market at Grange Hall. Get involved at nearby Ag Hall in agricultural, horticultural or youth activities. Give your kids a riding lesson at neighboring horse farms. Or walk along Music Street of an evening to Alley's General Store for ice cream. Across the street are 512 acres of wildlife refuge with extensive walking paths, all preserved by The Nature Conservancy.
When Islanders take their children on a scenic tour, they go up Middle Road. It is the most beautiful part of the Island, portrayed with a timeless canvas of meadows, stone walls, sheep, cattle and weathered barns. At one point you come to rolling meadows engaged with wandering cattle and backed by the sweeping Atlantic. It is the Island's best view.

You are up-Island in the middle of horse farms and rural splendor yet only 10 minutes from down-island ferry, restaurants and shopping. Ten minutes drive also gives you a choice of the pristine beaches of Lambert's Cove on the north side of the Island or Long Point on the south.
Built in 1956, 20 Middle Road is offered for rental for only its fourth season. With new bathrooms, refinished hardwood floors throughout, artisan-level paint job and new furniture, the main house with its separate dining room, sunroom, living room and four bedrooms, just sparkles. Over the two-car garage is a comfortably renovated one-bedroom apartment with a full kitchen of all-new appliances, including dishwasher. It's perfect for an au pair or guest accommodation or getting privacy for (and from)the teenagers. Main house sleeps 8 in four bedrooms; apartment: 2 in one bedroom and 2 on convertible sofa.

This was the perfect house for my family and extended family members to vacation this past summer. We loved the location- close to Alley's, great running and biking nearby, and close enough to some great restaurants (State Road is very good). The house is spacious and very clean with everything you need for a good vacation. We will definitely be back!

We appreciated the nice pillows, well equipped kitchen (knives, especially), flat screen T.V. and CD player. The bathrooms were lovely and spacious -- a real treat.
Location! We couldn't have asked for a more lovely and private space on the Island. Bike trails, hiking trails, Alley's General Store. The house was ample and clean. Excellent appliances. The grounds overlooking the sheep farm were a treat. Meals on the deck and comfy areas to read will not easily be forgotten.

We liked the open floor plan, hardwood floors, the deck and the peaceful yard with meadow view. The location -- being up-Island is a plus. The additional apartment is great for teenagers. Linens and towels at the house are great!! Overall we think it is a GREAT house for vacationers.
