Description

Description

This well kept cottage takes you back to Vineyard yester-years when people came to the island to get away to the simpler life leaving the frills behind to commune with nature and leave the rush of modern day living away across the waters. If you are looking for a sweet, unadorned, no granite counter-top experience, come to this homey, restful, private cottage.

The walk to Lambert's Cove Beach is about a half a mile away and Uncle Seth's Pond about a mile. Lounge on the screen porch with a book, a glass of wine, or good company. Kick your shoes off and walk barefoot. Listen and watch the birds around you and enjoy the island breeze with the trees rustling around you.

This 3 bedroom cottage sleeps 6 people. One of the bedrooms is on the first floor with a double bed (and the combo washer/dryer). On the second floor is the Green Room, containing 2 twin beds, another bedroom (the Blue Room) with a queen bed, and the bathroom.

The on-site washer/dryer combo adds convenience to your stay. Updates this year include all new electrical, updated lighting, and newly painted first floor. There is a portable air conditioner provided along with other amenities such as a TV/DVD player, internet & wi-fi, cable tv and an outside shower.

Guests must bring their own sheets, bath towels, and beach towels.

Enjoy a quiet stay in the country while still being only 10 minutes from town (Vineyard Haven) where you can go to the movies, get an ice cream cone, walk along the pier or go mini-golfing. Head up-island to Alley's General Store, the West Tisbury Library, Polly Hill Arboretum, and so many more wonderful and unique Island sites like the West Tisbury Farmer's Market, Menemsha, and the Gay Head cliffs.

Rustic and Serene Cottage close to Lambert's Cove

We stayed here for two weeks in August 2016 - and loved every minute of our stay. The location is fantastic. 2 minute drive to Lambert's Cove, and close to Vineyard Haven.

Loved sitting in the front porch reading a book. Property is private and beautiful in the woods. Nice fireplace for the chilly rainy day (although we only had one day like that during our 2 weeks!) - firewood all provided.

Excellent experience communicating with our landlord Susan. Responsive and understanding. Couldn't ask for more!
(We are Facebook friends now and her family descends from the Island's first minister of the Methodist church.)

Free walk-on pass for Lambert's Cove. Brand new kitchen appliances, cookware, outdoor grill, and vacuum (for the sandy feet!). Spacious rooms upstairs.

Highly recommend. Great value for all renters with or without pets. Thank you for the amazing summer.

    A peaceful getaway

We stayed in this delightfully quaint house in August 2015 (2 adults and 3 young children). The location is outstanding, minutes away from the gorgeous Lambert's Cove Beach and a short drive to Vineyard's Haven. The house is situated off the road and is surrounded by beautiful trees, effectively screening the property from neighbours. It is such a peaceful spot where we were able to escape the heat of the midday sun whilst enjoying our iced coffees on the front porch. If you are after a quiet spot away from the crowds and enjoy a rustic setting, this is definitely the place for you. The owner is delightful and on hand to offer travel suggestions and ensure that everything is running smoothly. show more show less

My mother was born on Martha's Vineyard during my grandfather's assignment there as a Methodist minister. My grandfather bought the land back in the 1930's and eventually built the cottage on the property, naming it Grahaven. Growing up, we travelled every summer and school holiday from NYC to the island and felt the amazing freedom to go barefoot, hitchhike, blueberry picking, fishing, and walking on the beach. It has become a beloved home and treasured place to all of us.
