Nestled in the dunes and beach roses, this classic Wauwinet beach cottage, “Ondine”(named after a French mermaid), backs right onto the Atlantic ocean beach and is only a short walk away from Wauwinet Harbor as well. This cottage is situated in a small, quiet community of historic summer cottages in one of the best beach locations on Nantucket Island, the last outpost on the way out to Great Point.
From our house and beach you can swim, sunbathe, fish, walk, fly a kite, read, or put your boat in the harbor for a sail or kayak over to Coatue or up to Coskata Pond. Many species of land and sea birds, seals, wildflowers, and wildlife are all visible to the nature lover, and even natural history tours out to Great Point are available.

The rooftop Widow’s Walk deck offers views of the ocean, the harbor, Great Point, and the island’s three lighthouses. Enjoy the fantastic sunsets every evening looking out across the harbor, and sunrises over the ocean.You will be far from the crowds in this beautiful area of the island, yet only a 15-20 minute drive to either the Town of Nantucket or Siasconset village, and an easy walk to the elegant Wauwinet Hotel for fine dining.
“Ondine” offers the perfect Nantucket vacation for a couple, for friends, or for a family with older children. This cozy beachfront house would also make a great honeymoon cottage or retreat for one!
Note: The three bedrooms (master bedroom with queen downstairs and two bedrooms on second level) sleep 6 comfortably. The outside stairs to upstairs bedrooms are not recommended for small children, but do add a sense of fun and privacy for others.
