“Ondine”(named after a French mermaid), backs right onto its own ocean beach and is only a short walk away from Wauwinet Harbor as well. This cottage is part of a small, private community of historic summer cottages in one of the best beach locations on Nantucket Island!
The first floor offers an open, sunny living, dining, and kitchen area, a small central fireplace, the master bedroom, 1.5 baths, and a laundry nook. The outside deck wraps around the house and provides views of the harbor in front and the dunes in back. Step out the back door to the private hot/cold outdoor shower and wooden stairs leading up to the two second level bedrooms. The rooftop Widow’s Walk deck offers views of the ocean, the harbor, Great Point, and the island’s three lighthouses. Enjoy the fantastic sunsets every evening looking out across the harbor, and sunrises over the ocean.

You will be far from the crowds in this beautiful area of the island, yet only a 15-20 minute drive to either the Town of Nantucket or Siasconset village, and an easy walk to the elegant Wauwinet Hotel for fine dining. Here you can swim, sunbathe, fish, walk, fly a kite, read, or put your boat in the harbor for a sail or kayak over to Coatue or up to Coskata Pond. Many species of land and sea birds, seals, wildflowers, and wildlife are all visible to the nature lover, and even natural history tours out to Great Point are available.
“Ondine” offers the perfect Nantucket vacation for a couple, for friends, or for a family with older children. This cozy beachfront house would also make a great honeymoon cottage or retreat for one!
Note: The three bedrooms (master bedroom with queen downstairs and two bedrooms on second level) sleep 6 comfortably. The outside stairs to upstairs bedrooms are not recommended for small children, but do add a sense of fun and privacy for others.
