Newly-built, secluded home with sunrise views of Nantucket Sound on the edge of a 12 acre sheep-field. It is located one mile from downtown Edgartown's shops and restaurants. Birdwatchers and wild flower lovers enjoy this quiet meadow setting, one half mile from the Sheriff's Meadow Nature Preserve and a five minute drive to two of Martha's Vineyards best beaches. The house is bordered on the west by the Edgartown Golf Club's private golf course and on the east by meadows and sheepfield. From the east deck, there are lovely views of Nantucket Sound and the cliffs of Chappaquiddick. The enclosed screen porch on the west side offers a tranquil afternoon getaway. The property is ideal for children as the long private grass driveway provides safe walking and biking pathways. The cupola hideaway is ideal for sunrise and sunset watching with water views to the east and west. The large carpeted basement provides a cool playroom for children. The house has air conditioning, but that is rarely needed as the prevailing southwesterly breeze keeps things cool. A spacious south-facing deck with pergola features a large outdoor fireplace, gas grill and white wicker chairs for a virtual outdoor living room.
In addition to enjoying nearby beaches and kayaking (two kayaks, paddles and trailer are available), one can explore the whaling village of Edgartown and its many shops. Families also enjoy shell-collecting strolls around Edgartown Harbor and Lighthouse. The Edgartown Wharf (a one mile walk from the house) provides a closeup view of yachts in the Harbor and a place to drop in a fishing line. Oak Bluffs is a seven mile bike or car ride away and features an historic Merry-go-round for rainy day fun. The colored clay cliffs of Gay Head and the Fishing Village of Menemsha are a 16 mile drive away. Best of all, at the end of the day the house and its meadows provide a peaceful haven from the hustle and bustle of the tourist attractions.
