A public entrance to the Gulf beach is a 5-minute walk from our home. South Marco Beach and Tigertail Beach, outstanding for bathing, birding and shelling, are about 10-minute drives from the house. Rookery Bay bird sanctuary is a short drive up Rt. 951.
For those who like to fish, Landmark Bay is called Tarpon Bay because it shelters baby tarpon year-round. It is not unusual to occasionally see four- and five-foot tarpon splashing about just off the patio dock.
Landmark Bay also hosts a variety of small fish (snapper, sheepshead porgies, cravalle jacks, ...

ladyfish) and an occasional snook coming to hook. Also, do...lphins cruise through the bay on a regular basis, popping to the surface in their acrobatic display. You can fish right from our patio dock. Several fishing rods are available on the lanai.
In addition, there is much bird life on the bay, including many pelicans, herons, egrets, ibis, spoonbills and, of course, seagulls. On occasion, you might spot an osprey, hawk or owl. There also are colonies of burrowing owls on Marco Island.
The single-story home has a 165-foot seawall with a 20x18-foot patio dock jutting into the bay. There is an attractive step-down living room for entertaining, a full, formal dining room and family room with parquet wood floors throughout (except for the bedrooms, which are carpeted).
Secure high-speed internet service is provided throughout the property.
Most of your time probably will be spent outdoors on the screened lanai, which is furnished with a glass-top dining table and chairs and a breakfast bar, which can be served directly from the kitchen. On the lanai is a wicker set with a love seat, lounge and chair, a good place to read a book and/or watch the children while they are in the pool.
For those who love the sun, the patio dock will be the draw while at home. There is a table and chairs on the dock and several chaise lounges on the lanai that can be moved easily to the dock. And fishing from the dock, ahhhh!
Note: We also have a beautiful water view home on Cape Cod. See property ID 12790 on weneedavacation.com.
"We loved our stay at your Marco Island home. Saw dolphins playing most days and my son loved fishing from the dock. We'll be back next year for sure."

''I just wanted to thank you for the use of your home during our vacation in Marco Island. I do believe this was the first time that a rental I've booked using the Weneedavacation.com web site was everything listed and more! My husband and I had a very relaxing time there and even got to see a dolphin swim right under your dock while we were standing there! How cool was that!''
Carole H from Gibsonia, PA, who vacationed in March 2009.
This was the perfect family escape from the midwestern cold of winter. We truly enjoyed this home and all the wonderful furnishings. Coffee on the screened in lanai as the dolphins swim by - what more do you want! It's a quick walk to the beach for the wonderful sunsets. Very cordial people to book with; we'll be back. The Thomas'
