Description

New listing of a home located on Gooseberry Pond off of Lake Wequaquet in a quiet, friendly neighborhood offering a 50 foot dock and a small private beach.

There are two bedrooms on the first floor with hardwood flooring in all rooms. The master suite has a queen bed, an attached full bathroom (with a shower), and sliders to the back deck. The second bedroom has two single beds, a full bathroom across the hall (bath/shower) and sliders to the back deck. The fully equipped kitchen has new appliances, including dishwasher, microwave, oven and gas stove. A washer and dryer are provided. The dining room has seating for six with a view of the lake. The living room has three large sliders with a view of the lake. The sliders lead to a large outside deck. The outside deck is very private with wonderful views of the lake, a dining table, gas grill, and stairs to the back yard.

The family room is downstairs with wall to wall carpeting, a comfortable couch and chairs, TV, small library, games, refrigerator, large picture window and slider leading to screened porch. One section of the family room is curtained off for two single beds (pushed together to form king size bed if you bring your own king size bedding) and a full bathroom (with a shower).

Though the house is kept cool by gentle breezes for most of the day, AC is available. WiFi, Internet and basic cable TV are provided.

The screened porch has comfortable seating to view the lake and gardens as well as a dining table.

The back yard is beautifully landscaped and has a small sandy beach with a 50 foot dock. A boat launch is located on Lake Wequaquet. Kayaks, paddle boards and canoes can be launched and pulled up onto the beach. The garage is set up to store bicycles, strollers, beach wagons, beach toys, etc. brought by guests.

An association beach (available to all renters) is located within a 5 minute walk and provides a sandy, freshwater beach and float. An association tennis court is also available within a 5 minute walk. The neighborhood is quiet and does not have through traffic. Walking and biking are quite popular.

Centerville is centrally located on the Cape and is within a ten minute drive to all the villages in Barnstable, transportation center, airport, movie theaters, fine restaurants, beaches, mini-golf, main highway, whale watch boat, ferries to the island and night life. Don't miss Four Seas Ice Cream in Centerville! A public golf course is within 2 miles.

The Cape in the spring is lovely. Spring flowers and budding trees abound! Businesses are open but the summer visitors have not yet arrived. Beaches, bike trails, hiking trails, restaurants and museums welcome early visitors. In May and June, Heritage Garden and Museum in Sandwich, offers fabulous displays of spring flowering plants and trees including world famous rhododendrons, azaleas, daffodils, lilac, and peonies, as well as an automobile museum, carousel, and children's nature area. The daffodil festival on Nantucket is scheduled for April 28-29, and is readily accessed by the ferry in Hyannis, a 15 minute drive from the house.

If you are considering a trip to Cape Cod in the fall, it is a beautiful time of year. Our days are still warm, nights are cool and comfortable. Time seems to slow down after the busy summer. Restaurants and stores are open for your business and are less crowded. You will often find that you have beaches and trails to yourself to explore. Wellfleet is a 50 minute drive. The Oyster festival is scheduled for October 14 and 15. It is a perfect time to visit for four nights or a week.

Please note that this is a No Smoking and No Pets rental. We love pets, but we keep the house pet free for our visitors. Thank you for honoring this request.

Wonderful rental, In fact, the best rental we've had! The rental is a fully stocked home. All the amenities are present, even serving dishes! Great location, near everything from shopping to beaches and restaurants! Our whole family loved it from toddler to teenager. As the grandmother of the group, I could live here!! Highly recommended!

Hope to return

This house is beautiful. Very modern and extremely clean. The view of the lake from all of the rooms was unbelievable. It is in a quiet neighborhood, but close to beaches, restaurants, etc. There were 5 adults and a toddler in the house, and there was plenty of room. All linens, towels, beach towels, beach chairs and toys were included. We did not have to bring a thing. The owners were very friendly and helpful. This was our first rental on the Cape, and we really enjoyed ourselves. We hope to return next summer. show more show less

We stayed here for a week in August and had an amazing time! The house is beautiful - great wood floors, nice furniture, air conditioned, great lawn, screened-in porch, gas grill, great views, quiet, peaceful - everything we wanted in a vacation house! We stayed here with a toddler, and while the owners cannot claim that the house is truly "child proof," we had no problems or safety concerns (I did bring outlet plugs and a child gate for the top of the staircase). The association beach is a 5 minute walk from the house, and is a wonderful place to swim and spend an afternoon - for adults and kids! We rented kayaks from the nearby EMS for a day and had fun exploring the lakes around the house. We also loved the location of this house because it is located in a private and peaceful neighborhood, yet is only minutes from supermarkets (Trader Joe's, Stop and Shop, Whole Foods, Shaws, etc.), restaurants, and stores. It's also easy to get to many different beaches from here. The owners were friendly and very responsive to our questions. We had such a wonderful week and will hopefully be back next year! show more show less

An ideal setting - private, situated on a private inlet of the lake yet only a short drive to downtown Hyannis and a number of beautiful Cape beaches. The house was comfortable for six adults and a toddler, with enough space that we weren't crowded. Two decks (open and screened) made sitting and eating outside enjoyable (the mosquito magnet was also a plus!). The house and property were immaculate and welcoming. All the cooking amenities and cleaning supplies you could ask for were provided. Beach chairs, towels, and floats made for less stuff to bring from home. Access to the Association beach on the lake was a 5-minute walk and well maintained (better than the nearby public beach at Hathaway Pond). Julie and Larry were welcoming and very responsive to our questions. It is obvious that hey take great pride in the property, inside and out. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to vacation in a home (this is much more than a rental property). The location gave us access to beaches (Sandy Neck and Craigsville) and every grocery store imaginable. Best bets: get lobsters at Shaws or Stop and Shop (they will steam them for you); try the clam pie from Centerville Pie Company; and the fried clams from the Osterville Fish Market. We're already planning our return trip next summer! from: Deb Foss- Williamstown MA. Aug 2015 show more show less

We loved our stay here on the lake! The home is very comfortable & the owners are extremely conscientious & attentive. The home was very clean & the layout is flexible. Convenient to Hyannis with the added bonus of a beautiful private view of the lake & its amenities. Kitchen is fully equipped & the neighborhood is nice to stroll around with very little traffic. The lakefront porch & the upper deck are great places to sit & relax & enjoy the view. Would definitely recommend!

My family and I had a great week at this house. This is a great, well cared for home. The pictures don't do it justice. My son (8) loved fishing off the dock. My daughter (10) loved kayaking the lake. My other daughter (4) loved being in the water. The swimming at the house was not great because the sandy beach bottom quickly becomes vegetation. Fortunately, we could walk to the association beach and the swimming there was great. The house is close to great ocean beach spots too. Craigville Beach is nearby and Old Silver is not too far away. Owners are helpful and attentive. We will consider going back next year! Thank you for a wonderful week! show more show less

We love to travel! When the opportunity came up for us to keep a family home in the family, we decided it was a perfect opportunity to share a wonderful property with other families who like to travel. We updated the house with new appliances, added wood floors, and painted throughout. One of our visitors exclaimed, ''I want to live here!''

The Museum of Natural History in Brewster and the Thornton Burgess Society in Sandwich offer summer classes and walks through woodlands and marsh. A bike trail runs along the old railway line, from Dennis to Eastham, providing views of Cape Cod that would not be seen from cars.
