Windfall...with vast water views of Lucy Vincent Beach

We have been renting Windfall for the last 5 years, and our time there is always the highlight of our summer. There are sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean - south beach - from the back deck. The nighttime views are even better - the moonlight coming over the water towards the house or the sight of millions of stars above, including some shooting stars if you're watching closely! The home is comfortable, with a modern kitchen and open floor plan to allow a lot of great family time; and there is new comfortable outdoor seating and a wide-open backyard that allows for lots of games. The beach access to Lucy Vincent Beach is the best. LVB is the best beach on the island, and it's just a short walk down to the pond, and short row (canoe or kayak) over to the beach. No fuss with parking or sand in the car - and you can just leave your gear at the beach and row home for a quick lunch at your leisure. Windfall is less than 10 minutes to 7A market for iced coffees and terrific breakfast sandwiches, and less then 5 minutes to both the Chilmark general store and Menemsha. We did a fishing charter out of Menemsha, but you can buy any type of fresh seafood at the markets in Menemsha (great lobster rolls) - not to mention catch a most amazing sunset. As we always do, we had the most amazing time during our stay!

This was our first time staying at Windfall cottage and what a slice of beach heaven it it. The views of Chilmark Pond and Lucy Vincent beach/ocean beyond are dreamy. The house is well equipped with any/all kitchen needs as well as a variety of lawn games and beach equipment. Use of the 2 kayaks and canoe was great for a quick paddle over to the beach! Nothing more relaxing than going to sleep to the sound of those ocean waves. Kris was a wonderful host replying quickly with answers to our questions. We hope to return for another fabulous vacation at WindFall!

This was our first stay at Windfall and we absolutely treasured it. If you want a relaxing up island experience away from the crowds, close to the beach and general store, this is for you. The lawn provided plenty of space for flying kites and the deck was perfect for laying out and lunch alfresco. The house is larger than it looks and was more than enough room for 5 of us.

This is my second stay at Windfall, and I look forward to my next visit. The home is designed to have water views both fresh/saltwater wherever one turns. Talk about a fully stocked kitchen, Did I mention the boathouse room? Packed with toys, games, lawn and water sports, coolers, chairs etc. Plenty of beds if you must bring a crowd. Outdoor shower, BBQ grill. Kayaks and canoes included to access Lucy Vincent Beach across the pond. Easy access to Chilmark Gen Store, Menemsha, Aquinnah Cliffs. The owner Kris is great and cooperative.

We loved our stay at this special property- such a well-equipped home with wonderful views, a great location and a peaceful vibe. We hope to return next summer.

The most magical, unforgettable Vineyard location we've ever rented. By day, the kids played in the enormous yard, while we just stared at the view. By night, we loved the sound of the waves and the expansive view of the sky. And reaching the beach by canoe and kayak was as much fun for the adults as the kids.

As if that weren't enough, the house is equipped with everything necessary -- and then some.
And on top of all this, Kris, is a very friendly owner.

All in all, for those who can afford it, it would be hard to find a better situated and more comfortable rental.

We have been renting Windfall for a few years now. The location close to Chilmark General Store, the Community Center and Menemsha is so convenient. However it is the that view makes this home magical. At all times of day you have a perfect view of the pond and the ocean overlooking Lucy Vincent. Our kids love running and playing on the large expansive yard while we can sit and relax on the deck. The easy access to Lucy Vincent is also key to this great rental. Our boys also enjoy the bunk room, they feel like they have a place of their own. The owners are quick to respond to any needs we might need met. We have truly enjoyed our vacations at Windfall!

This place is a gem if you want to be up island with easy (maybe the easiest) access to Lucy Vincent Beach (the best beach on the island). The bunk room (4 beds) made it easy to accommodate our big family, and the master bedroom had a comfortable queen size bed with the most amazing morning views over the pond and beach. You can see the ocean and hear the waves! The kitchen was well stocked, with an adjacent comfortable and spacious eating area. Storage room has everything you could need for the beach and at home—boogie boards, chairs, croquet, etc. The best part, however, is the access to LVB. Last year, we had to get a pass, load up the car with sandy chairs, towels, toys, drive to a busy parking lot and hope there was an available space, and then walk hundreds of yards down to the "Black Panther" rock where the best sand bar and waves are. This year, we simply loaded up a canoe and paddled over while our kids used two of the kayaks—all provided with the house—right to the best part of the beach. No more sand and wet suits in the car!

Kris was great. The dishwasher broke, and the next day a new one was delivered and installed. Kris even called in a gift certificate at Larsen's Fish Market in Menemsha for the hassle - unnecessary, but very much appreciated! If I could buy a house in Chilmark, this would be it!

This is our second vacation at Windfall. The fantastic view helps to relax, and the ocean is a short canoe ride away. The owners are quick to respond any issues. My youngest grandson loves to go to GG's beach. We are already planning 2018, and looking forward to seeing the house and canoeing to Lucy Vincent Beach.

We had a very relaxing and wonderful 10 days at Windfall. The house is comfortable and well outfitted. The kitchen has a great layout with all the necessary equipment and was easy to work in. The house had every beach and lawn toy imaginable including chairs, boogie boards, sand toys, horse shoes, and croquet. It was a lot of fun to walk down the path to the pond and canoe or kayak over to the beach. But it was the location that really made it spectacular. The view overlooking the Atlantic and Lucy Vincent Beach is gorgeous. We enjoyed the ocean view from the expansive deck during the day and the stars at night. Even when the weather was not great, the three large sliding windows in the open kitchen/dining/living rooms brought the view to us. We will be back!

Many Thanks for another wonderful vacation at Windfall. We relaxed, fixed great meals of every kind of fresh seafood, swam in the ocean, played scrabble, and laid down on the back deck at night to watch the Persied meteor showers. It was perfect. We look forward to returning next year."

Just a note to let you know how much we enjoyed our vacation at Windfall. The photos do not do the cottage justice as it is even lovelier in person. The cottage is designed to bring the outside in with huge expanses of glass highlighting the generous lawn and ending in a spectacular view of the pond and the ocean beyond. We enjoyed walking down the path and kayaking over to the beach. My son loved being able to leave his windsurfer all set up and ready to go down on the pond. We appreciated the quality of the furnishings inside and out, including the deck chaises and dining set. Thanks for sharing your place with us. We had a wonderful time! Jane Dion
