Wonderful in Every Way

We have been going to Eastham since 1973. Found Erik's place about ten years ago and love it. Comfortable house, easy access to pond, loads of outdoor space for all ages and the best location on the Cape! The homeowner adds something special to the house every year and calls on the day of arrival to make sure all is in good shape. Very open to suggestions and extremely accommodating!!!

The Wonderful Life

I have rented this property for two years now and it is the best vacation place I have been to. There is so much space, and the cottage is kept very clean. The owners provide all you need for a spectacular vacation, quick access to a fresh water pond with a sandy beach, quick access to the Cape Cod bike trail, floats, boats, fire pit and more! It has been a wonderful life spending my vacation with my family and continuing a long held tradition of vacationing on Cape Cod.

My kids think it's "our" house...and so do I!

We started renting this lovely home when my daughter was a 1 year old; she's turning 18 in a few months. Needless to say, this is our "home away from home" on the Cape. Conveniently located, well appointed and above all, clean(!) this house is the perfect family vacation home.

Since 2001, my family of 4 generations began staying at this home, when my 1st great-granddaughter was one year old. We soon outgrew the house, so I began renting in 2005, taking friends to share my pleasure. Approaching Nickerson Road, we breathe a collective sigh of contentment, knowing we’re in for a wonderful relaxing week. Upon entering the home, we always find everything more than adequate and very clean. Erik maintains both home and yard so well, makes improvements, and calls each year to be certain all is OK - a really nice touch.

Being centrally located in Eastham between the Bay and the Atlantic, it’s easy to access so many beautiful areas on the Cape. We do cook in the conveniently stocked kitchen, but also help the local economy by heading for ice cream shops, bakeries and local restaurants ?.

Being in our 80’s, we’re very content enjoying the large deck, strolling down to nearby Herring Pond for a swim, or enjoying the lawn chairs overlooking the Pond. And sunsets over nearby Cape Cod Bay - simply amazing! We’re only back home a month or so when my friends begin asking, "Are we going back next September?" "Absolutely, and only dream we could stay all year long!”

12 years and we keep coming back!

Why? Because Erik's place is a treasure tucked back away on a quiet gravel road where all of the outdoors can be accessed by walking or riding a bike, if you so desire:
- Our favorite bike path to the ocean at Salt Pond ~ through the cedar forest and across the marsh with extended view
- A 10 min bike ride or short drive to First Encounter Beach, if the bay is your preference.
- Swim in Herring Pond ~ one of the quieter ponds so its peaceful to just sit and look
- Walk in the many sweet conservation lands nearby.

Beautiful, restful, fun.

Erik is incredibly pleasant and responsive and keeps a clean, comfortable home. Bedrooms at opposite sides of the house with a living room and kitchen in between make this space an ideal blend of privacy and family time. My kids grew up loving our summers here and now, as young adults, insist on continuing to return with us, much to our delight. We are so grateful Erik has shared this special spot on the Cape with us. You will be too.

You can't ask for more.

We have been coming to the Cape for vacations for more than 40 years now and have spent at least 15 of those years at this beautiful Eastham home. We have stayed in many houses until we found Eric's and have been here ever since. Besides being a great place, the rent is reasonable for all that you get. This is a wonderful house, situated off the main road but just a stone's throw from the National Seashore, First Encounter beach and several fresh water ponds (one of which is right across the road). It is also a short walk from the Cape Cod bike path.

The home itself is quite spacious with very large bedrooms. The layout is such that it offers both privacy if you want it and a large common living room dining room with comfortable, attractive furniture. The home is equipped with everything you could possibly want or need for your vacation including a great patio with gas and charcoal grill, televisions in the living room and two bedrooms, every appliance imaginable, beach chairs, etc. There is even a supply of spices for cooking and books and games for quiet moments at home. Oh, and I almost forgot the fire pit for making smores.

There is a supermarket nearby as well as many restaurants and stores. Still, when you are on the front porch in the evening, you have the peace and tranquility of a lakeside retreat. This is a great place for multi generational families to stay but also great for one to come with their friends. Our family feels this is our home away from home. We have made many happy memories here that will last a lifetime.

Eric is an amazing man who sincerely wants his renters to be happy. He makes improvements every year and always keeps in touch to make sure everything runs smoothly. If there is ever a question or problem, one call resolves the issue immediately. You cannot ask for a more considerate homeowner or a better place to be at the Cape. Enjoy.

Feels like our 2nd home.

We have vacationed at this house for 15 years and always have a great time. We split our time between the beautiful pond and the nearby ocean beaches. The property is clean and well maintained. The pictures of the house are accurate. The house has lots of room to spread out. The kitchen is well stocked, and beach gear is in the garage. The property owner is very nice to work with and he is well organized. I would recommend this rental to a friend

Great house on an amazing pond!

I've been vacationing on this pond every summer since I was an infant. When I found Eric's rental over 5 years ago, I knew it was the perfect spot for my kids and I to vacation along with my mom. The house is perfectly setup with one bedroom (sleeps 4) and a bathroom at one end and 2 more bedrooms and a bathroom at the other end, with the living/dining space between. It is perfect for an extended family or even two families to share. The house is fully stocked with everything you could need from your choice of gas or charcoal grill, down to corn holders – my kids love the corn holders!

The pond is just a short walk away and most of the time we are the only people on the semi private beach. The rail trail is behind the house - but hidden by trees for privacy - and is easily accessible. A perfect location for all your Cape activities. As soon as we return home, my kids are asking when are we going back - my reply - in 50 weeks. Bottom line -- this is an awesome property, and Eric is a great owner who maintains the property very well.

Cape Cod "Home-away-from Home"

Little did we know when we first rented the Hedbergs’ house 12+ years ago, we would return year after year to build innumerable family vacation memories. Each year this place welcomes us back to relax, explore, and play together.

Nestled on a quiet road just behind the Cape Cod Rail Trail, the house is within a couple miles of our favorite ocean and bayside beaches and walking distance of the library, windmill/town green, and Eastham Superette. Situated on a slight hill, the picturesque setting offers solitude as well as convenience. Our kids enjoy playing in the large yard while the adults relax on the back deck, stretch out in lawn chairs around the fire pit, or recline in the hammock. We can carry our kayaks to the pond without breaking a sweat, but we welcome the option of lounging on the small, sandy beach area or taking a quick dip if we feel like it.

The house itself is spacious, light-filled, and comfortably, creatively and completely furnished without being cluttered. There’s plenty of elbow room for up to eight people to gather in the open, airy living room in the center of the house. We especially appreciate that the sizeable bedrooms allow half of the occupants to sleep in one section of the house and half in the other—the unique layout is conducive to getting a quiet night’s rest. And because there are large closets and ample dresser drawers in each of the rooms, we never feel as if we’re tripping over our belongings—or over each other!

The house is always sparking clean when we arrive and on the rare occasions when we’ve needed Eric to address an issue, he is invariably helpful and immediately responsive. We recommend it wholeheartedly, knowing what a truly special place it is.

Perfect Cape Cod Rental

If I could give a ten star rating, I would. We absolutely enjoyed your lovely home. We have rented many homes through the years, and I have to say yours has been the nicest. It had every amenity we could need. It was well stocked with pots and pans of every size, plenty of dishes and cups and silverware. It was nice that spices, condiments and paper goods were left behind. Beach chairs and umbrellas were abundant and in great condition. Well appointed, nice large rooms. Very, very clean and neat. Comfortable beds and furniture. We could not have asked for anything more. This will be our go-to rental whenever we vacation at the Cape. Thank you again for sharing your home with us. show more show less

We have been in the vacation rental business for 15 years starting when we first purchased the Cape House. We stay at our future retirement home about 3 weeks out the year and have accumulated some great Cape memories with our children. Most of our summer renters have been with us for 10+ years. Their families have grown with ours. We all have become dear friends. Someday I hope that our children and theirs will come back to the Cape with grand children to start new Cape adventures.

What is special about this property?
This house is a perfect location to get away from the busy summer at the Cape. We sit on 1.5 acres of very private land, accessed by a single lane dirt road. We are only 100 yards from our semi-private beach on Herring Pond. It is so quiet there, you can just feel your blood pressure going down.
