We purchased this cottage in December 2008 and worked tirelessly to complete a total renovation and have it ready for the first guests in July 2009. The cottage's backyard and that of our primary residence abut - there is a fence and we respect our guests' privacy. We maintain the property (lawn care, cleaning and general maintenance) and are always available when needed. Every year we make capital improvements ranging from new furniture and carpet to new windows, exterior shingles, repainted trim, etc. The cottage is in the neighborhood where we live; we respect our neighbors and want a property which we can be proud to say we own.
What is special about this property?
Bottom line, the cottage is comfortable, nicely appointed and decorated, as well as convenient. The three bedrooms are on the south side of the house, while the living and dining areas are on the north side. There is a large rear lawn with a patio, seating and a grill, as well as a shed to store bicycles and beach ''stuff;'' we provide beach chairs, an umbrella and children's beach toys. The yard is a great place for family fun or just relaxing. The cottage is in a quiet residential neighborhood less than 1/4 mile to a major town beach (Pleasant Road beach) which has lifeguards, public restrooms and public parking (with paid permit), however, most guests just walk. There are also two casual restaurants and a miniature golf course within walking distance. Harwich Port is 1.5 miles east and there are sidewalks the entire way along Lower County Road. Many other services such as a grocery store, liquor store, deli, etc. are a short drive away.
What is special about your town?
West Harwich is primarily a residential community - commercial services are located along Route 28 and in nearby Harwich Port. Most of our guests, many of which have been staying at the cottage for several years, like the close proximity to Pleasant Road Beach, while others enjoy the quiet neighborhood setting. Nearby Harwich Port offers many great restaurants (from casual to fine dining), churches, banking, shopping and other forms of entertainment. In 2016, the town expanded its Wednesday night ''Harwich Stroll'' to an every week event in July and August. It attracts several hundred people each week and features multiple musical groups, food, ice cream and other attractions. Harwich, being approximately equal distance to Provincetown and Falmouth, provides a great opportunity to visit the other towns which all have something unique to offer.
