My wife and I are both native New Englanders. She grew up on Cape Cod and I grew up outside Boston. Somehow we wound up living in the Great Plains, but we come back to Cape every summer, to enjoy the quiet, the smell of the salt water, Nauset Beach and the company of relatives and friends.
What is special about this property?
There are two houses on this lot. One that we use ourselves and one that we rent. We enjoy the chance to share our little piece of the Cape with renters and to make their acquaintance when we are able to be present. We are very fortunate to be right on the Namequoit River and, especially to have a dock. Conservation rules have significantly limited new docks in the area. We are happy to let renters use the dock to tie up smaller motor boats, to launch kayaks, or just to come down and enjoy the view of the water.
What is special about your town?
Orleans has both ocean and bayside beaches, wonderful shopping and restaurants. No matter how many times we go there, Nauset beach, on the ocean side, retains a special magic. The surf, the sand, the crowds during the day and the quiet of an early evening walk on the beach are all special. Skaket Beach, on the bay side offers huge expanses of sand when the tide is out and lots of shallow water when it comes in. Great for younger kids.
