PJ and Patti have been vacationing on Cape Cod since they were children. After many years renting various cottages in Wellfleet and at Deck 2, we finally found a home away from home in the beautifully situated E3 Cottage at Deck 2. We are delighted to share this special place and our cozy home with those seeking sun, fun and relaxation. Deck2 is a marvelous community of 28 unique contemporary cottages surrounding a cedar pond (mosquitoes cannot nest near cedar so the property is mostly mosquito-free!). The pond is encircled by a boardwalk from which you can bird-watch, sit in one of the deck chairs and enjoy your coffee or cocktail, or view the turtles. The setting has been lovingly maintained and relatively unchanged since it was built in 1973 and we feel fortunate to be one of the few lucky owners within this exclusive property.
What is special about this property?
We love Deck2 for it's lovely setting and its proximity to everything that has made generations of visitors fall in love with Wellfleet. This welcoming cottage on a pond provides the perfect place to kick off your city shoes and immerse yourself in the unique, laid back lifestyle of this iconic Outer Cape town. A relaxing day starts with an al fresco breakfast on the deck listening to the morning birdsong on the pond, followed by a long walk on the nearby Cape Cod Rail Trail. From there, pack a lunch and head to one of Wellfleet's ocean side beaches for an afternoon of surf and sun. As the shadows lengthen, it's back to the cottage for a glass of wine on the deck before heading across the street to Indian Neck beach to watch an incomparable Outer Cape sunset over the bay. Let your appetite lead you to one of the many restaurant choices in the area. Choose the family friendly style at Moby Dicks, eat barside and enjoy the best oysters anywhere at Mac's Seafood, or dine on the patio at Winslow's. We like to end our day by the fire pit at PBs where you can always find good company and conversation. As the day ends, you will be lulled to sleep by the night sounds of the pond with its nocturnal symphony of peepers and frogs.
What is special about your town?
Wellfleet's beaches, art galleries, restaurants, and kettle ponds make it one of most most desirable coastal communities in the northeast. And with its bohemian roots and unique architectural history, it is never fussy or fancy. If you are looking for more adventure, Wellfleet is located within minutes of Provincetown, a one-of-a-kind fishing village and artist colony. Spend an evening enjoying a cabaret or some of the world class art galleries. There is so much to do on the Outer Cape- from family fun at the beach, to visits to Truro Vineyard; from biking on miles of bike trails, to hiking through the dunes; from breakfast at the Wicked Oyster, to dinner at Petite Boulangerie. Each day is an adventure in which to lose yourself and to replace everyday life with sunsoaked fun. This is a town where you will instantly feel welcomed and at home. And you will find yourself wanting to return again and again.
