Description

Description

On Lewis Pond - a large saltwater pond leading directly into Nantucket Sound - in the cottage colony of South Sea Village, which consists of 33 stand alone cottages spread out on over 11 acres of coastal land. Our cottage shares the use of a tennis court and private dock right in the village. We have a private yard right on the pond and next to the dock.

The cottage has commanding views over the pond to the dunes of Seagull Beach at the far shore of the pond and Nantucket Sound in the distance, as well as an expansive tidal salt marsh, great for bird watching. It's just a 13 minute walk to Seagull Beach, with its wide sandy beach, snack bar, bathhouse and lifeguard-served swimming. Launch your kayak right in front of the cottage from the dock and be out in the Atlantic Ocean in minutes. Also just a 10 minute walk to the stores and restaurants on Route 28.

The cottage features a living room and one of the bedrooms with pond and ocean views, two small porches (the house is elevated), a private yard looking out to the water, a second bedroom/office looking out towards the marsh, and an open kitchen with full size stove and refrigerator. An outdoor shower is in the works for summer. The cottage is a traditional Cape cottage, clean, comfortable, bright and sunny, perfect for a couple or a small family to enjoy a beach vacation.

Hyannis is a 10 minute drive away with its huge choice of restaurants and shopping and ferry service to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.

PLEASE NOTE: The map pins the cottage in the center of the village but it is actually located at the end of the road on the pond.

Hi, my name is Randy Gobeil and I grew up in the Buzzards Bay area and attended UMass Dartmouth. My husband, Mike, and I have owned vacation rental property for about 15 years but this is our first time owning on the Cape. Previously, we rented out a log cabin in the Berkshires and until this past summer we owned a two family in Shelburne Falls that we renovated into a combination vacation rental apartment/office space/studio space/commercial kitchen space - it was a blast and kept us busy but we were anxious to finally have a small cottage by the water. After a few summers searching for the right place we came across ''Shore Lea'' in South Sea Village. We changed the name this past December: ''Marshmellow''(sic)...

What is special about this property?
We love being in a small cluster of cottages yet you're surrounded by nature. People are constantly saying to us that South Sea Village is ''the old Cape that's hard to find nowadays''. Morning sunrises are almost always spectacular. When the tide goes out of the pond, the ducks move in for dining and we haven't tired of watching them yet! We're visited by a Great Blue Heron and a Barred Owl and are waiting for the return of the Osprey later this Spring. The tennis court looks in good shape and we are anxious to try it out this summer for our first time. There are plenty of beaches an easy bike ride away but expect we'll be at Sea Gull Beach mostly, the village even has a grandfathered easement for private parking and beach access on the quiet end of the beach.

What is special about your town?
We chose Yarmouth because we wanted to be close to but just past Hyannis, it's easy to drive up to the bay side (Yarmouth Port) for a change of view. We have family and friends up and down the cape and our town is centrally located. There's mini golf, batting cages, etc for kids; golf courses; hotels with indoor pools all; upscale dining and fried fish shacks, consignment and antique shops(!) all within the town's borders. Great beaches!
