Description

Description

Five minutes' walk from the heart of the village, open the picket gate and enter the garden (yard) through the arch in the privet to the tranquil broad lawn. Sit in the shade of the tree a while, and take it all in before entering through the screen door onto the airy breezeway.

Turn left into the master suite or right into the cozy living room. Sit on the wicker chairs or couch, chat or chill, or flip on the TV or your laptop for a high speed broadband window onto the outside world - or not... Turn right into the kitchen for a cup of tea and a snack, or go on through to the porch for a delicious outdoor shower. Or turn around and go through the door behind you to the two double bedrooms and shared bath.

The cottage is in a quiet residential area, yet close to the center of the village, with the 'Sconset Market, Claudette's sandwich shop, the Summer House [check out the sing-alongs with the piano player]. Haute cuisine at its best is just down the road at the Chanticleer.
You'll see a brochure on the coffee table for movie listings at the Casino, opposite the Chanticleer. Don't miss seeing the interior of this grand old building.

Walk down to Codfish Park, check out the old fishing shacks, now converted to $1m plus vacation homes, and go onto 'Sconset Beach. The next land, way over the horizon, is Portugal. Sunrise and moonrise over the ocean are the stuff dreams are made of. Spend time with your kids in the brand new playground by the beach.

Take an inner-tube ride if the tide is coming in and go all the way to Great Point, or try your luck surf casting for bass or blues, or just sit on the sand and dream a while.

Take a bike ride along the bike path to Sankaty Lighthouse, continue through Polpis to town if you feel like it. You can put the bikes on the front of the bus if you run out of energy, and it will bring you to the end of your road on Main Street, 'Sconset.

It's a magic place, and you'll have memories to last a lifetime.

When the Big Downturn hit the island and the construction business didn't do what it had reliably done for years we turned to weneedavacation.com to help us rent our home in Codfish Park for the summers [check it out at 19 Bank Street].
Now I'm back helping out an old friend to rent her cottage for the summer. I have several year's experience doing this and will be happy to help you to enjoy your vacation in any way. I'm a phone call, text or email away.

What is special about your town?
'Sconset is a very special village, and holds a lifetime of memories for me and my family. Our three children grew up in this magic place, played tennis at the Casino, boogie boarded at Madequecham, made lifelong friends, expanded their horizons, and flew away to follow their dreams, returning with their own children to show them their roots.
'Sconset is a safe distance from the hubub of Nantucket town; islanders will plan the week around a trip to 'Sconset, but if you're from anywhere else in America the seven miles is not a big deal! The Wave bus service is a wonderful thing if you don't have a car, and bikes are a great way to get around.
There's a public golf course just outside the village, great beaches and ponds in easy reach and the vast expanse of the central moors awaits the hiker in you, right across the world's biggest natural cranberry bog.
'Sconset was an artist colony back in the day, and Broadway actors would stage their summer productions at the 'Sconset Casino. Jaws was written right on Baxter Road!
