The Cottagers House Tour

About The Cottagers House Tour...Formed in 1956, the Cottagers are a group of 100 professional African American women homeowners on Martha's Vineyard whose mission is to promote education, a sense of cultural pride and the value of service to the community for the people of the Island. The women of the Cottagers are important role models, epitomizing the strength of women through quiet activism. The group fundraises all summer to support multiple programs. Each year, for the past 30 years, the Cottagers Inc. conducts a tour of the Highlands, visiting many homes and historical sites in the area. The tour is a major fundraiser for the group.
