Description

***Recipient of a 2013 Historic Preservation Award from Dennis Historical Commission!****

This historic Victorian in the heart of East Dennis was built in 1891 by the current owners' great-great-grandparents. On a large wooded lot that extends to the marsh on Sesuit creek and faces Route 6A, Moose House is an easy drive from the beautiful historic towns of the mid-Cape and a 20 minute walk to the beach. Marshside Restaurant, Lost Dog Pub, Player's Plaza, and the liquor store are just a 5 minute walk away. A wrap-around porch, outdoor shower, and secluded, spacious, flat back yard make The Moose House ideal for time spent outside.

Inside, the Moose House boasts beautiful period woodwork, hardwood floors, tasteful furnishings, and a stained glass front door and foyer. The first floor has a newly renovated and thoroughly modern kitchen with gas range and microwave, a pantry, a sitting/TV room, a living room, a dining room with a table that seats 12, and powder room.

Upstairs are three large bedrooms and one smaller one, a full bath, and plenty of closet space. Two bedrooms have queen beds, one has two twins, and the fourth has a twin-over-full bunk bed. The tidal marsh can be seen from the quiet north bedroom, while the south, east, and west-facing bedrooms are bright and sunny.

    Home on the Cape

I can't imagine a finer setting for a family vacation on the Cape! The Moose House has it all: spacious comfort, convenient location, and a sense of history that you don't often find in a vacation rental. The house has been lovingly restored and modernized by the new generation of an old Cape Cod family. I feel fortunate to have stayed here for the past 4 years, and I am already looking forward to the next time.

Our stay at Property 22603 in East Dennis

We recently returned from our third annual stay at this beautiful house in East Dennis. The house and property are excellently maintained and very clean. The mix of original charm and tasteful renovations make this the only vacation home I will ever consider on the Cape. It is near the beach, good restaurants and markets, and quiet and peaceful. The light coming in from all sides and the high ceilings make this a wonderful house to spend time in. I always sleep soundly here.

    A Wonderful Long Weekend!

In late September I spent a long weekend at the spectacular Moose House in East Dennis, Massachusetts. What a wonderful, renovated Victorian home with features including an outdoor shower (private) and a kitchen far nicer and more modern than my own. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, wifi and tv were available, as were toys, games and books. The island in the kitchen was conducive to gathering my sisters and I to help my cousin with meals while we talked and talked. We were a short drive to the ocean side of the Cape and a pleasant walk to the bay side. Restaurants nearby added to our visit. I will return! show more show less

    Simply awesome

It was our third summer vacation at the Moose House this year, and we absolutely loved it once again. This Victorian house has every amenity you can think of from the washer and dryer to the beach toys for the kids! The location is perfect, The beach is about a mile away from the house, and you can find groceries nearby too. I recommend the house to everyone, especially families because the house is so spacious.

Gracious Gem - Lots of Space

We had a wonderful, memorable family vacation at the Moose House. The home is spacious and light, with large windows, high ceilings, gorgeous woodwork, and a magnificent chef's kitchen complete with stainless gas range, high-end appliances, and beautiful cabinets with granite countertops.

Staying in a restored Victorian is a treat. There is a huge wraparound porch, an outdoor shower, and a large, quiet back yard. This gracious house was well-built and has been lovingly restored. Doors feature period hardware - closets are huge with built-in storage. The owners have furnished the home thoughtfully, and all the rooms are well appointed, large, and filled with light.

We brought our bikes and enjoyed biking to nearby beaches, Scargo Lake, and Sesuit Harbor where we found amazing lobster rolls - an authentic Cape Cod treat. Dennis and nearby Mid-Cape towns and shopping are easily accessible. The house is within walking distance of a number of tasty restaurants, as well as a convenience store, post office, and liquor store. One day we went to the Museum of Natural History and then took a long guided marsh walk - interesting and informative.

It is a lovely spot for a family vacation!

    Cape Cod Getaway

My family of 6 rented Moose House for a week and had a wonderful time at this restored Victorian gem. The house is located near a classic New England village, and the back windows look out over a wilderness marsh to the sea. The beach is about a mile away, easily walkable or quickly accessible by bike. The house has a modern kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances and is fully equipped to cook lobster dinners or make clam chowder for a crowd. The 4 upstairs bedrooms have comfortable beds and are painted in fresh welcoming colors.

Just down the street is a quick mart and liquor store, and the Stop and Shop is only a few miles away. On rainy days, a drive to the Brewster Country Store kept us occupied, and the house is ideally situated for further exploring up the Cape. We had a wonderful family vacation there and will be coming back again. Staying at Moose House can easily become a family's annual summer getaway tradition!

    We loved it

Though “Moose House” conjured up a rustic picture for me, it is anything but. She is a beautiful Victorian that has been lovingly restored. With an updated kitchen, the house is a beautiful and comfortable vacation spot. The rooms are bright and spacious. We even saw a fox as he trotted through the back yard at the edge of the salt marsh.

We found the location extremely convenient to ocean beaches, a lake, restaurants, historical sights, galleries, and well, the whole cape.

    Great Vacation

We had a wonderful vacation at the Moose House. An absolutely beautiful stately house with plenty of Victorian charm, yet with perfect contemporary comforts such as a gorgeous granite topped kitchen. The big dining table gave us all a chance to socialize together. Loved the daily walk through the neighborhood to the water. We liked the feeling of being in a real neighborhood and had plenty of places to eat close by. Our best day was spent just driving up the Cape and back for beautiful views and great seafood, then home to our comfortable bed. Highly recommended. Friendly owners who never intrude. show more show less
