The cottage has all the charm of a boutique inn with the privacy of your own home. We live local, and are always happy to help you plan your visit with an insider's view to all of the best places to see and things to do while you are here. ABOUT THE LOCATION
Barnstable Village has something for everyone, and you can walk to everything from our cottage! Millway Beach is just down the road, with a beautiful view of Sandy Neck Lighthouse. The beach is sandy, and the water gentle. Walk to Millway Marina for charter boat fishing, restaurants and ice cream, public boat launch too. Put your kayak in the saltwater marsh and head over to Sandy Neck. Have your lobster and ''chowdah'' cooked to go at Osterville Fish Too just up the road. Better yet, have dinner or cocktails with a view of the harbor at the Mattakeese Wharf - no need to take the car! Stroll down the street to one of the most beautiful beaches on Cape Cod. Be sure to take in a sunset too - beach chairs and towels are here for you, just bring your own flip-flops. The house is just steps to a beautiful saltwater marsh, and the Mill Way Marina is just a block away - you can go on a charter boat or Whale Watch, eco tour, or just watch as the fishing boats unload their 'catch of the day'. A short walk past the marina is a playground for the little ones to enjoy, and then head to historic Main Street for unique shops, restaurants, antiques, museums and more. Haunted and history tours also available, and organic farm to pick up some local grown fruit, veggies and flowers. Located Mid-Cape, it is an easy five minute drive to Hyannis for nightlife, ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket

Our cape cod home away from home

I have stayed at many vacation rental homes, and this beautiful cottage was by far the best I've ever experienced! Everything from top to bottom is handled with care and the utmost detail. The house is superbly clean, organized, and comfortable. The views are lovely. The beds incredibly comfortable.

With two young children ages 3 and 6, it usually doesn't take long for them to miss their own rooms and stuff. On our stay, they begged us not go home. Afternoons not accounted for with activities in town were spent in the beautiful backyard listening to birds and having barbecues. Kitchen is perfect for those nights you can't make it out to a restaurant. A beautiful living room to enjoy time with your family.

Truly felt like a home away from home. We can't wait to go back! Five stars!

    Great getaway!

Beautiful, well-cared for home with so many thoughtful details. My husband and I came for a long weekend and just loved this home and this neighborhood. It's an easy walk to the beach, as well as downtown for a coffee. We felt right at home!

    Our New Favorite Destination!

My husband and I both grew up vacationing on the Cape and wanted our children to share in the experience. Having spent many summers in Brewster and Chatham, we decided to try something new - Barnstable was just what we were looking for! The charming little village, just a short stroll away, with its fabulous market, welcoming coffee shop, restaurant and ice cream shop were all that we needed. The picturesque harbor was fun and convenient for whale watching, fishing and yummy fried clams and lobster rolls. The beach was great for cooling off and exploring during low tide, and our kids loved jumping off the bridge into the harbor during high tide with their new friends!

But perhaps the best part of all was this lovely cottage, which was beautifully laid out and appointed, from the fun welcome baskets for the kids right down to the kitchen knife that could actually slice a tomato! Eva was the best hostess we've ever experienced, sharing a plethora of knowledge about the area. She was quick to get back to us with answers to our questions and always friendly - thank you! We can't wait to go back!

    Charming Vacation Rental

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Sonny by the Sea for our babymoon. The house is charming, well kept and stocked with amenities. Eva answered all of our questions (before we even asked!) and was an excellent host, even putting out a delicious pumpkin cheesecake for us to enjoy during our stay! We had never been to Cape Cod before, and the location was perfect - close enough to everything, but still quaint and personable. We will be back as a family of three!

    Great place and location !

We looked for a long time for a Cape Cod rental for our family of three. This cottage seem to have everything we were looking for - location, price and nice interior. We could not have been happier with our choice! This location in Barnstable is awesome. There is so much to do and the main street area is very quaint and historic, and not touristy at all (says the tourist!) but that's just what we were looking for -a quaint seaside town with beautiful cottages with well-maintained lawns and gardens - friendly locals... with plenty of the tourist type attractions within a quick drive.

Eva went out of her way to make our stay in the house personal. The smile on my son's face when he walked into a chalkboard wishing him a happy birthday and a table decorated to celebrate was priceless! The outside gardens are beautiful, the house is cozy, clean, and bright, and the space is used so wisely. We had everything we needed during our stay. A walk up to Main Street for coffee in the morning (stop to look st the gardens behind the church) a quick walk to the beach to play in the sand and explore in low tide- walk to a couple of really great restaurants at the marina - you've got your day filled within a couple blocks of your home base! Look no further for your vacation rental - this one will not disappoint!

    Great home

This house was so great. Everything is as described, if not better. While the house is small, it is designed beautifully and feels very spacious. Eva provides you with everything you need! We have 2 kids (4 years and 21 months). I wanted a home close to the water and this was. Just a 5 minute walk to a beautiful little beach. We went down every day for low tide and played until it came back in. There is a great little fish shack that has the freshest fish. If you end up going there, I recommend buying your lobster to go (it is much cheaper) and bringing it back to the house. You truly do not have to get into the car. We will definitely be coming back.

    A Perfect Cape Retreat

We couldn't have asked for a better experience with this rental. From the very beginning, Eva the owner was so quick to respond to my emails and provided all the info we needed in order to make our family trip a memorable one. The cottage itself is truly out of a magazine, from the decor and cleanliness inside to the gardens all around the property. Just lovely in every way! We felt totally relaxed the minute we walked in the door. And it's in a great location in a quiet neighborhood. Just a block away from a small beach and the marina. Our kids loved it! We are definitely hoping to return next summer! show more show less

My husband Steve and I fell in love with the Cape many years ago. We found ourselves drawn back time after time, driving through the night with our two boys still in their pajamas in the back seat looking forward to the relaxing days by the beach we would spend together.

Fifteen years ago we decided to make Cape Cod our home. I am still discovering new and beautiful places, and smile when I drive along Route 6A past the rambling roses and hydrangeas bursting with blooms. I look forward to the changes that each new season brings. The long, lazy days of Summer... the color of the leaves in Fall and the crackling sound of the first fire in our fireplace. The beauty and tranquility of the first snowfall in winter, and waking up one morning after a long Spring rain and noticing that all is green again.

We found our little cottage by the sea and spent the winter of 2010 designing and building our vision of the perfect Cape Cod get-away. Having rented before, we wanted to create a place where you could relax, unwind and enjoy from the minute you arrived. I hope you too will have many happy memories of sun-filled days and starlit nights and find as many reasons to fall in love with Cape Cod as we did!

What is special about this property?
Our cottage is the perfect place to be close to all of the beauty of charm of Cape Cod, but tucked into a quiet little neighborhood. There is so much to see and do in our neighborhood that you could park your car and never use it again. Every detail has been thought of, and there are many personal touches that will make you feel at home from the minute you arrive. It has all the charm of a boutique Inn with the privacy of your own home, and I am always available to help you plan your visit with an insider's view to all of the best places to see and things to do.

What is special about your town?
Barnstable Village has something for everyone, and you can walk to everything from our cottage! Millway Beach is just down the road, with a beautiful view of Sandy Neck Lighthouse. The beach is sandy, and the water gentle. Walk to Millway Marina for charter fishing, restaurants and ice cream, public boat launch too. Put your kayak in the saltwater marsh and head over to Sandy Neck, do some fishing, dig for clams, or just relax. A short walk past the marina is a playground for the little ones to enjoy, and then head to Main Street for shopping, restaurants, antiques, museums and more.
