We stayed in this beautiful cottage for an entire week at the end of August, 2025. Everything about it was perfect--the location, the classic Cape Cod cottage look, the spacious primary bedroom with a reading nook, the hardwood floors, the gorgeous blue walls, the window boxes full of flowering vinca, the small porch for reading or relaxing, the large, well equipped bathroom and kitchen. Shall I go on? The place was spotless, there was a welcome binder from Wendy and Van that covered everything we needed to know for our stay, a bag of Cape Cod potato chips, the beach pass that got us into so many beaches, etc. And this area of W. Barnstable is just lovely. There is so much conservation land there, that it felt like the "old Cape Cod" with restful, open green views all around. We loved Sandy Neck Beach with the sand dunes and beautiful views of the water. It seemed like you could walk forever (6 miles, I believe)! We also went to Craigville Beach, which is on Nantucket Sound and seemed better for swimming. We ate in the town of Barnstable several times--at the Dolphin restaurant for lunch or dinner, Alberto's for dinner and the Buttercup Cafe for breakfast. We also ventured over to Hyannis, which was very close (10-15 minute drive).
In Hyannis, we went to the JFK museum, where the exhibits were very well done and so inspiring! Also went to Baxter's Boat house on the harbor for some fried shrimp.. Another thing we did was to drive up to the National Seashore to see the ocean and walk on the beach there. We also went bike riding on the Cape Cod Rail trail, which is beautiful. Also went to Heritage Gardens & museum, where they had the largest hydrangeas I've ever seen! All in all, it was a very relaxing week and just what we needed. We can't wait to go back again and plan to stay in "our little cottage" once again!

My husband and I had a great stay in Barnstable the week of August 16. It was our first time vacationing in Barnstable and the town was very quaint with a great coffee shop and a few good restaurants.
The house was very comfortable and perfect for 2 guests. Very nicely decorated and the beds and bedding was very comfortable!
We also liked the outdoor seating area.
The house was well located and was convenient to the center of Barnstable.

If you're looking for the best Cape experience, this is it! Wendy and Van are outstanding hosts and their cottage is perfection. It is spotlessly IMMACULATE (not even exaggerating - not a speck of dust or dirt to be found anywhere) and extremely comfortable. From the moment you pull onto the property, well kept window boxes loaded with cheerful flowers welcome you The moment you step in the door, you feel right at home. Everything is right where you expect it to be: the kitchen is thoughtfully stocked with everything you need, plenty of towels in the bathroom, even extra blankets in the linen closet. There's a roomy pantry to stash your groceries for the week, a well lit dining area that doubles as a game table to take advantage of the board games stocked in the cabinet, and loads of reading materials if you forgot your book.

Wendy and Van are wonderful hosts - super responsive and thoughtful. You can tell how much pride they take in their rental and the care they put into making it the best. What you see in the pictures is exactly what you get. The beds are so comfortable (we all slept GREAT) and the location on a dead end street means that it's quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed sitting on the shaded porch - felt like a private little oasis, even though we weren't far from anything.

There's a welcome binder with tons of great suggestions for shopping, dining, and beaches, plus a beach pass for the town of Barnstable. And if for some reason you can't find your answers there, Wendy is super responsive to any questions and provided helpful personal recommendations.

I'd give this cottage and its hosts TEN stars if I could!

We had an amazing stay at this Cape Cod vacation rental! The house was clean, comfortable, and fully stocked with everything we needed. The location was perfect. It was just a short drive to beautiful beaches and close to restaurants, shops, and local attractions. We really appreciated the beach parking pass, which made exploring the area so much easier. The hosts went above and beyond by providing great recommendations for places to eat and things to do. We felt right at home and would absolutely stay here again!

This cottage in Barnstable, Cape Cod is an absolute gem! It's bright, super clean, and feels really private—like your own little hideaway. The location is perfect, just a short drive to Sandy Neck Beach and close to great coffee shops and local spots. The cottage is wonderfully stocked with everything you could need, from kitchen essentials to beach gear, which made things so easy. The host was incredibly attentive and thoughtful, making sure everything was just right. It's a cozy, comfortable place that really lets you relax and enjoy all the charm of Cape Cod.

The home was well kept, clean, and comfortable. Upon arrival was welcomed with wonderful snacks and fresh fruits and juice. The location was very convenient to explore the nearby villages of Barnstable. The beach pass was a big plus as I wanted to explore the many beaches. Wendy was prompt with communication during the booking process. I knew if I had any questions that I would be easily able to reach out to Wendy and Van. There is a lot of good reading material to relax and enjoy. I am already considering another stay in the coming months. Thank you Wendy and Van.

Our first trip to Cape Cod and it couldn't have been better. The house was clean, well cared for, and exactly as described. Location was perfect - it was away from all the hustle and bustle but yet close enough to everything. We loved traveling the more scenic Route 6A when we could but it was nice that it was close to the highway when we wanted it. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was well equipped, and overall the house was very welcoming. Wendy and Van thought of everything.
Wendy was great with communication and provided all pertinent information for the house as well as for the area to enjoy Cape Cod. If we come back to the Cape, we will stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful first visit!

Amazing stay at cottage in Barnstable. The cottage is impeccably maintained, clean and welcoming. Wendy and Van were very responsive and welcoming. Highly recommend. Hope to visit again.

We very much enjoyed our stay in this lovely, well-equipped and quiet house on a residential street. Beaches and all amenities were close by - the town of Hyannis is a 10 minute drive away and Sandy Neck beach is even closer. Special mentions go to the truly enormous bed in the main bedroom, and how quickly Wendy responded to our queries. It was our first time in Cape Cod, and this house played a big part in making it a wonderful holiday.

This was literally a gem! Wendy and Van were amazing. They thought of everything. The house was so clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay there and hope to come back next summer. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

The cottage in Barnstable, Cape Cod was terrific. The directions were accurate and the beach pass was a definite plus. The cottage was nicely decorated and comfortable. Wendy thought of everything, from the extra lunch bags,
cooler and stacked medicine cabinet to snacks and plenty of towels and supplies.
It's a nice, quiet neighborhood on a dead end street with the patio on the back of the property for privacy.
We highly recommend this hidden jem and would come back again.

This cozy cottage had everything we could want and more. A warm welcome from the hosts, comfortable beds, and a cozy setting inside and out. We were close to everything we wanted to see and do, and felt the unique Cape Cod experience even when we were relaxing inside between activities. I can't recommend this house enough, and can't wait to return!

We came to the Cape for the weekend to visit family and had a lovely stay in Van and Wendy's beautiful home! When we arrived there were snacks out as well as a personal note and ample information giving us everything we needed for navigating our way around the area. The bed was very comfortable and we had everything we could possibly need at our fingertips for a lovely and comfortable weekend. This location is just around the corner from Sandy Neck, and is right off one of the most scenic highways in America. Van and Wendy are thoughtful and attentive hosts offering a classic and cozy Cape visit experience - we will definitely be back soon!!!

This immaculate home was a fantastic stepping off place for anywhere on the cape! Rooms are huge, all necessary items are provided and it's dog-friendly. We enjoyed daily walks at Sandy Neck beach and Barnstable Village is charming. The local general store has anything you might need including great take out pizza. We'd love to return again!

We spent our honeymoon on Cape Cod! What a wonderful trip….the cottage exceeded our expectations. Wendy thought of everything!!!! The cottage was so well-stocked and homey!! The washer and dryer were a huge plus because we didn't have to check baggage at the airport. It was a fantastic location.

We feel so lucky to have experienced Sandy Nook Cottage for a glorious week on Cape Cod. From the moment we arrived we were thrilled with the beautiful and inviting space Wendy and her husband have created in their lovely rental property. The cottage was spotless with everything needed from towels to a well appointed kitchen. The cottage is nestled among trees and peaceful. We were able to bring our beloved dog which made our trip fantastic. There is state of the art air conditioning that keeps all the rooms at a comfortable temperature. The beaches are a very short distance away and there is a beach pass provided! Even though we've visited the Cape many times the bay and ocean beaches were incredible! We couldn't stop saying "Wow". We've been sharing our photos and recommending this gorgeous gem to family and friends.

The Sandy Nook Cottage is a hidden gem tucked a few miles away from the main tourist attractions and traffic. We were most impressed by how inviting it was - beautifully decorated with comfortable beds, clean, and fully stocked with anything we needed. The owners even left all the little things you often forget like qtips, a med kit, and cleaning supplies. They supplied linens, towels, and toiletries -- and all kitchen items were there and available, including a Keurig. They shared their beach chairs and a beach pass to the local beaches, which we definitely took advantage of. In their welcome booklet it had everything we needed to know about the cottage, along with contact info, and they included some of their favorite places.

Our favorite was Sandy Neck Beach -- walking the trails in the sand dunes to and from the quiet beach. Our family absolutely loved it. Just like the cottage, it was a hidden gem. For families with dogs, this was perfect. The owners allowed us to bring our dog, and dogs are welcome to walk the trails and to visit a section of the beach, which is rare during the summer months.

Outside the cottage was a picnic table and some comfortable Adirondack chairs to relax in before starting or ending the day.

I must add the home owners were easy to communicate with and quick to respond. I would recommend this place to anyone - and will definitely be back.

We loved the large bedroom... And sitting outside for morning coffee.
It was honestly the best vacation we have had because we found this place and it suited us to a tea! And the turkeys came back almost daily.

This was the first time we traveled to Cape Cod. We wanted a quiet place to sleep at night. This cottage was perfect located on a dead end road! Wendy & Van are exceptional hosts who have thought of everything! They were very helpful in giving advice on places to eat. We like to eat where the "locals" eat when we go to a new destination. Very quick to respond to our questions via text and email. This cottage is exceptionally clean and we felt very comfortable calling it "home" for the duration of time we were there. This cottage is quiet, quaint, clean and comfortable with all the amenities you can think of! Nicely decorated with a New England personal touch. Other than your clothes, there is nothing else you need to pack!

Wendy was so accommodating! Our family was looking for a place for us and our dog at the last minute. Wendy was very timely in her responses and was able to rent her place to us for Memorial Day Weekend. The house was very clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed for our stay - we just needed to bring our clothes. We enjoyed the stay and would definitely rent from Wendy again!

This cottage was absolutely perfect, and exactly what I was looking for. As a travel nurse, it can be hard to find comfortable housing for a short three-month stint. However, Wendy and Van were more than accommodating in making their cottage feel like home to me.

Every possible kitchen utensil or cooking staple was thought of and stocked in the cabinets. The space is airy and bright, the wood-stove cozy, and it is located on the quietest of dead-end streets. Being in such close proximity to Sandy Neck Beach made daily walks on the beach my most prized ritual while on Cape Cod.

I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable, and cozy retreat.

Wendy saved our vacation! We had our expected rental cancel literally hours before our arrival due to an unavoidable issue. We travel with our fur baby so our options are limited. In a panic in the middle of the night I came across a cute cottage that met our needs. I emailed Wendy who responded to me promptly on the morning. After hearing our issue she was able to arrange for us to rent the week!

Pleasantly surprised at how lovely this cottage is. Open and bright with beautiful wood floors. Large and spacious, the pictures don't do it justice. Very clean, which is the most important thing to me. The yard and small covered patio are perfect for relaxing after a full day of activities. Definitely would recommend staying in this gem.

My husband and I had the chance to escape to the Cape for a weekend, but had to find a place that accepted pets. Wendy's home was the perfect spot for us and our dog. Her home had everything you could possibly need. The kitchen had every gadget you might require. There were food staples available, coffee, sugar, spices. Her beautiful home was so comfortable and inviting, we wish we could have stayed longer. And our dog was so happy to have a yard to play in, rather than being stuck in a cramped hotel room. You will not be disappointed with this rental. We will definitely come back!

We lucked out with this cottage. Wendy and her husband are great hosts and they are very accommodating. They are quick to respond and helpful. The place is clean and well decorated. We were surprised to find two bottles of wine and beer waiting for us. They thought of everything, even down to a frosted mug in the freezer for the beer and beach toys for the kids. We felt like we were at a second home and we intend to come back !

My wife and I stayed at the Sandy Nook cottage for a week. We enjoyed its quiet location, away from the busy main road but close to all the conveniences offered by West Barnstable and to both the Marshes and the Cape Cod beaches.

The cottage is very tastefully furnished, bright and cozy, and impeccably clean. The kitchen is small but well-equipped, it has all the essentials and more. We appreciated that the hosts had left for us a garnished pantry, beers in the refrigerator, and a bottle of red wine, which made us feel almost as we were staying at our own place.

We greatly recommend this cottage and are looking forward to our next stay at Sandy Nook!
