Description

Oceanview 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with breathtaking views from Barnstable Harbor to Sandy Neck. This newly refurbished (2002), professionally decorated, extremely clean house is located only barefoot steps to its OWN private ocean beach. Take a leisurely walk to Barnstable Village to dine or shop at the many restaurants, antique shops, comedy club (theater), penny candy store, ice cream shop, Day Spa, and library (oldest in country). Take a walk or trolley ride to Mill Way Beach/Barnstable Harbor, go deep-sea fishing, whale watching, dining on the harbor, or absorb the views. The house is located in a very desirable, sought-after area at the end (where the ocean meets land) of a beautiful road and in a VERY QUIET, multi-million dollar neighborhood. The house is located only minutes drive/trolley to downtown Hyannis shops, restaurants, Barnstable Airport, golf, mall, Melody Tent, Kennedy Museum, and ferries. Relax, enjoy a BBQ, take a hot outdoor shower, and enjoy the sea breezes.

Location, Location, Location! Compare our beach house to others in the area that charge between $5,000-$6000 per week! You get the same view and amenities!

Don't Pack Anything! We've provided everything for you so you don't have to pack it. We provided big fluffy beach towels, high-quality linens and bath towels, beach chairs, and beach toys. We've provided all the information for bike rentals, kayak rentals, and what to do in the area.

Adventure-Seekers
Bring your bikes and ride around the picturesque streets with ocean views or take advantage of the local bike paths! You can keep them safe in our bike shed. Perhaps even try something new like ocean kayaking where we can schedule a 1 or 2 person (or more) kayak at the beach house for the week, complete with lifevests, instruction, and delivery/pick-up. The immediate area is written in many guidebooks as an oasis for ocean kayaking! A ''must-do'' is the large high-speed jet propelled whale watch yacht docked at Barnstable Harbor. The whales are amazing and always there!

Children:
This house is great for children! The yard is perfect for children to keep themselves busy and is set back from the (very) quiet road. It's a perfect place for children to learn to ride a bike or just to bicycle back-and-forth. The private ocean beach directly in front of our house will keep any child busy for hours with its endless collection of shells and ocean-life. We supply the beach toys and beach chairs for you!

Carless:
If you want to go on vacation and never touch your car during your stay, this is the spot for you. Between the walking distance nearby restaurants, general store, beaches, whale watching, antiquing, and trolley -- you'll never have to get in to your car until it's time to go home! Which, of course, you won't want to do when you see the view we have for you!

Foodies:
Come have a busy day swimming, clamming, fishing, whalewatching, biking, shopping, etc. and then end the day with a walk to one of our nearby restaurants. That's right, you can WALK to these restaurants! You can dine at the Barnstable Restaurant and Tavern (http://www.barnstablerestaurant.com/) or The Dolphin Restaurant (http://www.thedolphinrestaurant.com/), or Mattakeese Wharf Restaurant (http://www.mattakeese.com/) and leisurely walk on home via moonlight on the water. Don't forget your Four Seas Ice Cream (http://www.fourseasicecream.com/ReviewsFrame.htm) served up at Whistleberries right in the village!

Fish and catch your stripers for dinner!
Cast your line in front of the house and catch some Stripers for dinner! You'll have company early morning and evening as fisherman-in-the-know often stand on our land and/or float on by in boats to catch the fish.

Come stay and have a great time!

Great Place!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The place was cute, very clean, and well stocked - especially the kitchen. Great pots, pans, plates, glasses, and even nicer silverware than we have at home! The view was so relaxing, and walking in the neighborhood was a delight, it's a beautiful area. The owners are very nice and very accommodating. Two thumbs up!!

And I'll add that Barnstable is a beautiful, charming town, and conveniently located, anything you need is within a15 minute drive. Go, relax, and enjoy! show more show less

Steps from the water, beautiful view of the bay from the balcony. Kitchen had all imaginable utensils. Internet connection was fast and reliable. Very nice, quiet neighborhood. Host was so helpful!

Lovely place

This was a lovely place right by the water in Barnstable, Massachusetts. Everything about our stay was perfect! The house was adorable! Well stocked with plenty of room for everyone. The best place to pick seashells was steps from our door. Great views and such a lovely neighborhood too! I would definitely recommend this place for families looking for a getaway for Summer or Fall! I hope we can do it again sometime!

This property exceeded our expectations! Located in a beautiful quiet neighborhood along the water and close to cute village. Decor is beachy and relaxing. We loved the views and watching the birds visit the window feeder. Kitchen is very well equipped! Be sure to visit Hathaway pond for serene trails and beautiful scenery!

We had a wonderful week at this lovely little home. The house was clean and well stocked. The view is amazing and we easily carried our kayaks to the water for some wonderful kayaking trips. The beach is very rocky and mucky at low tide but the sunsets are the best. You have access to many beaches in the area if you want a sandy beach. The master bedroom is great but the middle queen bedroom is small with only one window, so our friends opted to stay in the twin bedroom with more windows and better breezes. Since the house is on the water and no AC it does get humid and damp, typical for the Cape. However there are ceiling fans and lots of shaded windows. It would be helpful if there were shades on the windows near the table since the sun beats in there. However it was a wonderful place to stay and we hope to return in the future. show more show less

We enjoyed our week at this lovely Barnstable property in a beautiful neighborhood within easy walking distance from the village and Millway beach on the Barnstable Harbor. The bedrooms, sitting area, and kitchen were in excellent condition and made for a comfortable and well-equipped stay. The beach pass was key and gave excellent access to harbor, bay, and Nantucket Sound beaches depending on crowds and our mood. The water access on the property was nice for sunsets, fishing, and clamming ... but not really a "beach" per se. The pass to the Barnstable beaches more than made up for it, but worth mentioning. Owner was as communicative, responsive, and helpful as any VRBO owner we have ever experienced. Thank you, Shannon! show more show less

Early December in Barnstable

We rented this charming little cottage for 6 days on the Cape after Thanksgiving weekend. Our adult daughter was with us for part of the week, then just the two of us. The house was fine for three adults and I think it would be good for a family too if the kids can handle stairs. There is a step down into the twin bedroom if that is an issue; all bedrooms and bathrooms are on the first level and the living area is upstairs.

The view is beautiful - you do look across the yards and rear of two other houses as shown in the picture of the beach path - but there is a clear view of the water and the sunset over the marsh area. The house was clean, and was warm even in the midst of a nor'easter that blew in for a couple of days. This year the weather in early December happened to be wintery (some years, it's gorgeous) so we did not get to enjoy the balcony or deck, or the walk to the beach or around the point too often but it would be a great spot in milder fall or winter weather, as well as in summer.

The location is in a beautiful neighborhood, and is a good walk (20 minutes or so) to the lovely village of Barnstable and a closer walk to the wonderful Sturgis Library. We were lucky to be in town for the Barnstable Holly Stroll which was terrific - a very local family celebration with many businesses and even the fire house participating. Shannon was very responsive to all our inquiries and is a great host.
