Young Families who Loved the Beach!

I spent a week in this lovely cottage in the woods with my small family and my sister-in-law's together (7 people total). This house looks cozy from the outside (and is indeed), but it slept us all very easily with room to spare. There were two large bedrooms on the ground floor and three on the second, so each family was able to have their own space while still being together.
Every morning we were up and serving our children breakfast in a nice-sized and practical kitchen/dining area. We would then walk all of 50 feet to the small beach where the littles could run around and play in order to get some energy out. We loved spending time out there together and with the house right there, anything forgotten was a 2 minute walk away. The house faces Popponesset Bay to the west, and so we were treated to amazing sunsets every evening!
Perhaps my favorite part was the giant screened-in porch on the end of the house. It was so lovely sitting out there drinking coffee, reading, and listening to rain fall, or the big family dinners we enjoyed as well. We really liked having cocktails on the porch every evening while the kids were able to run around and play.
The house was simple, but very beautiful, clean, and very easy for us. Dealing with Lisa (the owner) was great for us as well and she responded to a few quick questions we had right away. The little picturesque village of Couit was a 5-10 minute drive away and so groceries were always close by. We will absolutely be back!

    Peace and Quiet

This was the second time we rented this home and again it was heavenly. Big enough to have privacy for ourselves and our guests, yet cozy enough for big dinners with friends and family in the great room or the large screened in porch. We appreciated our own private beach or overlooking the bay from the deck. If privacy and comfort is desired, this home is it!!

    Loved It!

If you are looking for peace and tranquility, this is the place. The house is tucked away in the woods, off a private road, and sits on Popponesset Bay. It has a huge screened-in porch and what looked like a brand new back deck. Everything was as advertised. Clean house, plenty of space, lots of beds. We went for walks along the bay, grilled burgers in the backyard, and had our breakfast and morning coffee on the screened-in porch.

My family had a fantastic time, and we hope to book again soon. show more show less

Peaceful, beautiful home with gorgeous views

We loved this home! It was perfect for our group on all levels. I'll start with the beautiful deck with the beautiful view - this was our favorite view and waking up the trees, bay and blue sky was the best way to start our days. The house is super spacious, spotlessly clean and well-equipped with every possible amenity - and nice quality of everything - beds/pillows, beach chairs, all linens, dishes/flatware (kudos for having full stock of lobster crackers/tines) - right down to the William-Sonoma dish towels! Lisa was so accommodating to any requests, super communicative all along, and her notes and instructions were crystal clear and accurate. Would definitely go back and happily recommend to anyone. show more show less

Review of VRBO #295584 at 36 Bailey Road, Cotuit, MA.

    December 31, 2018
This rental was an oasis of peace and tranquility from our harried year for our two married sons, their families, and us.
It provided opportunities for beach time, walks along the bay, quiet conversations, noisy family board games, ample room for family meals. There was plenty of room for sleeping, unique sinks each bedroom in addition to the bathrooms and outdoor shower. The gigantic porch and separate deck allowed us to have multiple places to read, relax, and chat.
Located a short distance from civilization, Mashpee Commons, Cape Cod baseball, theater, book stores, miniature golf, and the Polar Caves ice cream shop.
We enjoyed our second year of vacation here and will return again!

Dreaming of summer, warm ocean breezes and peace? This is the spot for you!

    "Five out of five stars......

An oasis of peace for our family is how we would describe this location.

We found this rental property to be just perfect for our three families coming to spend time together.

Quiet walks along the bay. Beach time a mere mile away. Private areas to read, relax, and have catch-up conversations. Challenging board game competition. Laughter while cooking and dining in an open and airy space. Abundant sleeping opportunities for all. Close to stores and adventures.

A respite for all of us from our busy lives. "

Perfect set up for summer beach house

We absolutely loved this house. We rented together with my husband's family - 7 adults in total. Every morning we enjoyed our coffee on the deck looking out at the water with the sun streaming through the woods. We spent our days adventuring at the beach, playing on sail boats, biking or whale watching. In the evenings we hosted wonderful dinners, with room to include other family members staying nearby. We all remarked repeatedly at how well we slept each night. It's a perfect set up for a summer beach house - we will definitely be back again! show more show less

Cotuit house in the woods next to the water.

Our family has stayed in the Cotuit house twice and will again this year. We love taking walks along the lanes and by the water. We also enjoy the two nearby beaches and all the Cape Cod touristy things. The house is neat, clean and well furnished with anything you might need from spices to shampoo. There is a ramp for our wheelchair and open house plan for easy movement. Although our daughter enjoys communing with nature in the outside shower, in the future the owners might consider an inside wheelchair shower. Lisa is most accommodating to work with. show more show less

The eldest of five siblings who own this house together, I am the property manager this year. My brothers and sisters and I spent childhood summers in Cotuit in a house that no longer stands on a place nearby. We all visit in the summer and some of us have houses on Vineyard Road. Presently I live in Arizona and drive across the country to spend time in Cotuit with family.

What is special about this property?
36 Bailey Road is off the beaten path, quiet and private. If you want a place for a family to have easy access to the rest of the Cape, and Martha's Vineyard, this house is your launching spot.

What is special about your town?
Cotuit is a quaint old, Cape Cod town that is near Route 28 (The Falmouth Road) but not cut by it. There is great summer baseball at the Kettleer's Field where all the games are played before the sun sets as we have no lights. Popponessett Bay is wonderful for boating - bring your canoes and kayaks as we don't provide them. The beach is private and is special for walks to explore the area or the Barnstable Land Trust Conservancy around the corner.
July 4th offers a small town parade where kids can ride their decorated bikes and watch the floats and antiques cars and firetrucks. It starts at the Post Office at 10 - be early and don't get stuck on one side of it or the other, as the entire section of Main Street from the PO to the Waldorf School is CLOSED until after the Parade.
Biking in Cotuit is fun and popular - ride to Loop Beach, the ball park or the 'Coop' - The Cotuit Market. Bike out to Eagle Pond on Putnam Avenue, or meander through the quiet old cemetery.
Drop a kayak at Ropes Beach early in the morning; use the beach parking pass to park at any of Barnstable's beaches, and enjoy a low tide tour around the harbor.
