Description

Description

It’s early morning and another beautiful day on Cape Cod. Grab a coffee and head out the kitchen slider to the large private back deck and have a seat under the awning. After a few relaxing sips, it’s time to decide what to do for the day. Why not grab a few beach chairs and head around the corner ( just a short walk ) to the local beach and take your spot.

Our four bedroom, two bath home has a large back deck and a yard big enough for outdoor play and cookout dinners. The deck also has a large outdoor shower and a Sonos music system to enjoy under the stars. A living room and dining room can accommodate the family with a den for the kids and a family room for adults too. Games, movie night, or just relaxing on the deck ( or the spacious yard ) can be just the touch to end a long day in the sun.
You’ll find the master bedroom with a queen bed and bathroom on the first floor and three bedrooms all with twin beds upstairs with another bathroom as well.

Boaters welcome to bring boats - the boat launch and dock are within walking distance.

Pets welcome.

As a third-generation resident, my family tells the story of my sleeping in a bassinet on the beach in Pocasset next to my mother when I was 8-days old. My maternal grandfather, Harold Woods, was a home builder in the area and as a younger man was friendly with Aldro Hibbard, a resident of Salt Marsh Lane. Later in his life, Hibbard became widely known as a painter of local landscapes. On a visit to Boston's MFA for another artist, my sister and I inquired of an older docent and were lead upstairs to a quiet area that was devoted to Aldro Hibbard on permanent display. Many of his landscapes remain in the upstairs hallway for you to enjoy to this day.
Pocasset has been a part of my family for over 100 years. Once you ride over the Bourne Bridge the air changes and the breezes cool the temperature. Also, the landscape changes your mood to one of relaxation and calm. Swimming, bike riding, cookouts, and an evening walk complete the picture.

What is special about this property?
The property was once owned by old Mrs. Wing for whom Wings Neck is named. A local businessman, her grandson, visited our home a few years ago and told us about many visits to the spot when he was a young boy. Our family has continued this tradition as a family meeting place and has many family pictures to celebrate our get togethers hanging on the wall and in our playroom.
A unique feature is the large backyard. There, with the flood lights on, you can orient the two 6-foot tables in a manner to make for a pleasant outdoor eating experience late into the evening. Don't forget to turn on the Sonos outdoor speakers to add to the fun.

What is special about your town?
A location for family relaxation and fun. You have the town beach nearby for a salt water swim and Picture Lake, a fresh water pond just a short trip by car. Visit Aptuxet Trading Post for a return to the days when local settlers traded with the local Indian tribes. Visit former President Calvin Coolidge's train depot in the same area. We also like to bike ride down Salt Marsh Lane and then down Wings Neck road to the lighthouse at the end.
