Description

Step back to 1930s Provincetown, when the artist's retreat was dawning--Tennessee Williams was staying on the wharf, Hans Hoffmann was painting within a couple of blocks of the Virgin Cottage. This charming home is nestled on a sought after private lane on the West End--half a block from the beach and a few blocks from Sal's, the BoatSlip, Perry's, Joe's Coffee and all the summer fun that Commercial Street offers. An unusual offering, The Virgin Cottage is an untouched beach cottage positioned in an elegant neighborhood with quick access to PTown revelry by foot or car. Tenants have one parking space, and guests can check availability for two west end public parking lots.

The first floor includes the front sitting room, a small den/queen bed, and a galley kitchen which opens up to an outdoor landscaped patio. The upper floor is an open bedroom with a queen bed, a single day bed, and a full bathroom with a standing shower.

We're new, very invested owners busy making upgrades! The rates for 2023 are at discount as we polish the Cottage's original character and make improvements, including: new mini-splits for air conditioning, an induction stove, a brand new American Leather queen sleep sofa on the first floor den (a photo of the sofa in the showroom is pictured, but not yet the den--we're getting there!). The house is tucked next to a 3 bedroom rental home, with a private outdoor space abutting the lush Telegraph hill.

While we don't yet have reviews in PTown, we've been long-time home exchangers with our primary home in Rhode Island. We're committed to our guests comfort and enjoyment, as you can read in reviews below.
Feel free to message us with any questions that you might have!

Our family stayed at Natalie’s gorgeous home in North Kingstown over Mother’s Day weekend. Natalie and family were super kind and welcoming. The house itself is magical. They have done a careful restoration, preserving the warmth and character of this beautiful old home, while also making it very comfortable and modern. We would highly recommend an exchange with these lovely folks.

Our stay at Natalie's home was absolutely magical. Our family enjoyed the quiet and serene setting most of all. The yard is perfect for kids--the children had a blast, and we were completely relaxed on the porch taking in the beautiful scenery and sounds of nature. The home is fully equipped for families and simply beautiful inside and out. We truly loved our summer getaway in Rhode Island. Thank you Natalie!

We had a fun and relaxing time at Natalie and Steve's place. We enjoyed the fireplace, the hot tub (was 20 degrees outside!) and the calm of the pond. Thank you for hosting us and for staying at our place.

The Colettas stayed in our home over Thanksgiving in a fortuitous last minute arrangement. They were very gracious and respectful guests and left our home sparkling clean. We look forward to completing our portion of the exchange in their lovely home in the very near future.

Hi, I'm Natalie. My partner, Steve, and I have been long-time PTown lovers. We live in Rhode Island--I'm an art history professor, an artist and an activist, and Steve is an architectural designer with mastery in large-scale stair design and fabrication, and volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. After having our daughters we began to travel in 2005 through Servas and Home Exchange, which allowed us to meet people and travel the world as a family. Now we're sticking to New England more and enjoying the vast beauty of the Outer Cape, which we're ready to share with others.

What is special about this property?
LOCATION, HISTORIC CHARM and NATURAL BEAUTY. The Cottage is a rare find in its authenticity, sunlit spaces, updated features and nestled patio garden at the foot of Telegraph Hill. We're 680 sf of perfectly laid out spaces to allow a single to bliss out, a couple to frolic or a small group to make memories. The master bedroom is a highlight--spacious enough for a day bed, with the convenience of the full bathroom. Having a parking space on a private street is a privilege in town--easy in/easy out! Having a parking space on a private street is a privilege in town--easy in/easy out!

What is special about your town?
If you know PTown, you know how beloved Atwood Ave is--we are a gravel road inside of a gorgeous neighborhood of lanes that are great to walk with a cup of coffee or a cocktail. We love walking to the beaches on the harbor for sunrise or, and watching the sunset at the Jetty before dinner at The Red Inn. Stay close to home and make a stop at Perry's for a selection of fine wines, liquors and a concierge service for happy hour tasties. PTown is known for its parties (lunch at the pool inside the PTown Inn is a classic view of local fun, and then the Tea Dance at the Boatslip on the West End makes for a blast-of-a-day--both are within blocks of The Cottage), adventures into nature (dunes, beaches, forests, cranberry bogs), artist's studios and galleries (make a day of checking out the whole East End!) and spectating the architecture and landscape is a draw for design lovers. All the cool kids love PTown ;) You can be whoever you want to be here--freedom and acceptance is taken seriously and the streets, day and night, are a live theater like no other in the country.

Above all, we love the natural beauty of PTown--swim on the harbor shore and in the kettle ponds; reading at Race Point beach; and bike for miles in the dunes and through town. We have two ''town'' bikes for guests to enjoy! Finish the day with a fire after sunset at Herring Cove, under the biggest sky on the Atlantic and watch the seals dip and bob!
