Cape Cod Beaches

Skaket Beach on the bayside of Orleans is an absolute gem for families. Just a 5-minute drive from our rental, it quickly became our go-to spot during our stay.

The convenience is hard to beat- there’s easy parking, clean bathrooms, and a snack bar that kept everyone happy. But what really makes Skaket special is the tide. When it goes out, it goes way out, creating endless tidal pools and soft sandbars. The kids had a blast running around, splashing in the shallow water, building sand castles, and collecting little sea creatures in their buckets.

The gentle waves and wide, flat beach make it ideal for young children, and the sunsets here are just beautiful. It’s a peaceful, laid-back spot that still offers all the amenities you need for a full day at the beach.

Highly recommend Skaket Beach if you're visiting the area- especially with kids in tow!

Lucy Vincent Beach is private until mid-September, so we luckily were able to visit twice during our third week of September vacation. It's a mere 20 minute drive from Oak Bluffs, has ample free parking, a short walk to the sand and surf, and is just lovely. Great beach for our grandchildren to build sand castles and play in the surf. Lambert's Cove Beach is another private beach which opens up in September, which is also a treat to visit!

We visited Children's beach with our 5 year old - it's a favorite of ours and a perfect off-season beach to visit with the playground and park nearby, and conveniently located right in town.
