The Sea Captain's house is perfect in every way that makes it so special. The charm - wood floors, stairs and banister are all original. The slanted floors take you back and make you think of the hundreds of people who walked through these rooms for decades. The outdoor shower is private and refreshing. The modern conveniences - mini split AC units, fans, a very well equipped kitchen with everything you need, and sheets! What, sheets in an MV vacation rental? Yes, and they are white! The cleanliness - as mentioned, white sheets, white, couches, sparkling clean floors, bathrooms and kitchen. The owner does such an amazing job keeping this house immaculate. There is so much room in this house it became game night central for our family reunion. Several comfy areas to sit, a huge dining room table, front porch and sitting rooms make this perfect for family who want to be together but still be able to enjoy some quiet time. Easily walkable to town and quiet at night. We cannot wait to return!

Can't say enough good things about this house! The space was perfect for our family of 10 adults. The beds were perfectly comfortable, the linens beautiful and everything was immaculately clean!! The location is amazing. We spent so much time enjoying the porch. Nearby Jetty Beach is on the smaller side, but has always been our favorite. Being within walking distance was such a bonus. Wendy was an absolute pleasure to work with and made sure all of our needs were met. Would highly recommend!!!!

This home was perfect for our group of 10 that spans in age from 10-75 years old. We have rented for 4 years. The rolling lawn, outdoor picnic area/grill, large open porch and family areas were great for card games, talent shows and more. The kitchen is stocked more than our own home. The home is extremely clean and well cared for. The owner greeted us upon arrival and extremely accommodating (it is all about making sure we enjoy our stay).
We enjoyed short walks each night to the shops, marina and restaurants. Our only regret was having to leave!

This is our second year staying at this home because we can't get enough of it! The house is very large with different types of space for everyone (group gathering on the front porch, quiet reading on the back porch, soccer/whiffle ball fields for the kids). To say this house is stocked isn't enough - fans, laundry baskets, kitchenware (pots/pans/utensils), blankets, etc. This home brings comfort and relaxation to any vacation. Location is excellent - we walked to town everyday, biked around Oaks Bluff, easy drive to other towns.

Wendy is so wonderful to work with and your stay is #1 priority. When we head North again - this is the only place we will go (nothing but spoiled)!

It's like stepping into a postcard. A fabulous home away from home! We have rented this terrific property for a total of four weeks in the summers of 2013 and 2014. The house is amazing - roomy, comfortable, welcoming and immaculately clean. The well-furnished rooms include super-comfy beds with soft linens, along with a light and airy decor that puts a beachy feel in your summer vacation. The kitchen had everything; more dishes, pots and pans, serving platters, etc. than an army needs. The house had everything, FINALLY!!!!!

The owner knew we were having a birthday party outside for my 12 year old daughter. She left outdoor birthday tablecloths, napkins, paper plates, cups and candles. I was simply overwhelmed by her kindness and consideration.

The indoor space is equally matched by the outdoor space – great relaxing porches, 2 picnic tables with a gas grill and a large yard.

We had incredible fun in the sun, swimming and collecting shells at Jetty Beach, The beach is just 5 minutes away. This home is perfect for couples or families. The listing is completely accurate.

When you only have so much family vacation time, choosing the right house is important. We finally found a place where we can relax and enjoy ourselves in comfort. The kids have enough room to run around, and they are super close to their activities and the beach.

The owner is “guest-friendly’ and always goes out of her way to make us comfortable. After many, many years of rentals on M.V., this property has made East Chop and the “Bird Bath” (their home) my destination for the perfect vacation.

We are returning in summer 2015. A special heartfelt thank you to the homeowners for their very gracious old-fashion hospitality.

The pictures of this home are great, but they do not do it justice; or tell the whole story. This was by far, the nicest rental we have stayed in since visiting the Vineyard. The owners were responsive, helpful and friendly. This was the best experience we've had renting on the Vineyard. The house was better than described. It was spacious, full of light, clean, fresh and easy to maintain; not to mention a 10 minute walk to the beach or town! Additionally the house was large enough, so there was always someplace: yard, porch, sun room, living room, screened in lanai, or reading alcove - to find privacy and solitude, even when vacationing with family and friends. The kitchen was well equipped (with two full size refrigerators') and easy to cook in. The bathrooms were lovely, especially the two old claw foot bathtubs for soaking and the outside shower was great. What can beat showering under the stars! We will definitely be returning. I have already recommended "The Bird Bath" to friends. This was truly a home away from home! Karen K.

We have stayed at this amazing house for the past 6 years. Previously, we changed rental houses often, unable to find a decent place, which was reasonably priced. When we found this home, we hit the jackpot! I am hesitant to write this review, because I don't want anyone to try to take our spot! The house is terrific, enormous and spotless, even the sheets are new and fresh. The perfect location, far enough away from the crowds to enjoy our privacy, yet close enough to walk or bike everywhere. We are near everything: great restaurants, the movies, ice cream shops, shopping and fabulous JETTY BEACH. Far enough from the chaos of downtown to be relaxed, and let our children run around and ride their bikes without worry. East Chop is a great place to ride your bike (the hill on mass eve. builds stamina). The master suite is large and comfortable with large double closets (I love not having to share my closet!). The first floor "Guest Suite" is even larger, with a romantic brass bed, private bath, fireplace and comfy sofa under sunny french windows. The kitchen is stocked with more stuff than my own kitchen, which is a big plus (we don't have to constantly run the dishwasher). The two family rooms are the perfect gathering place to watch movies or play games. The front porch is unbelievable (I could sit out there forever). A tranquil and breezy space to enjoy coffee, a glass of wine or dinner. The gas grill and two picnic tables are perfect for the kids. My husband and I love the private outside shower. I could go on..... The owner's are always helpful and patient, even rescheduling their airline flight when we missed our ferry boat one year. We feel like this our home away from home I would be happy to be a reference for this wonderful home. A fabulous place for a vacation! Many thanks, Nadine. .

We love staying at this large, charming and comfortable home. We have gone to MV for years, but this is by far our first choice. We stayed all over the island, but we like East Chop and specifically this location right near the BEACH, the best! The house is great, very clean and gigantic with everything we need. It really feels like a VACATION, even for me! The owner is great, she greets us and make us feel welcome. She always makes sure we had everything we need, even installing a baby gate for our children (triplets) and leaving us stickers for our trash. Based on the pictures, we thought the house would be okay, but it far exceeded our expectations (they should take new pictures!). Every year we are anxious to see what new improvements they have made. Last year new marble countertops in the kitchen and shower in the master bath. The kitchen is always fully stocked, almost like a hotel (but with character). The bedrooms are Large and comfortable, with charm to spare! There are even two family rooms, one group can play games, while the other watches a movie. The large porch is my favorite spot.. always breezy and peaceful. We took advantage of the owners special, if you stay 2 weeks, you receive a discount. My only regret is we didn't stay longer. Next year we are planning a longer vacation. A great place to relax after an busy/active day at the Beach. WE ARE COMING BACK AGAIN! Thank you so much!! Faith Conrad

A vacation to remember! This was our first time on the Vineyard and we could not have been more pleased with our vacation rental. We loved everything about this beach house. The house is large and roomy, lots of space to spread out and lots of places to curl up and read. Every room is charming and beautifully decorated. The house is in a great location - a short walk to the beach and to the center of Oak Bluffs. The owners went out of their way to make us feel at home. Comfortable, cozy and charming. We were very impressed with the property; which was actually larger and more beautiful than pictured. We had plenty of room to spread out, and the kids were thrilled with their rooms. Everything that was promised was here, and more. My wife loved the screened in back porch for coffee and paper in the morning; while I loved the enormous front porch for dinner and cocktails. We both enjoyed the large dining room for family gatherings. It was especially wonderful to have such a large yard for the kids to play in. We felt we didn't have to worry about the children in such a safe environment. We could walk to the beach; or town for ice cream and movies. The kids really enjoyed the "Flying Horses" carousel.
