This classic, 5-bedroom Vineyard house on East Chop sleeps up to 10 people with all the comforts of home. A well-equipped kitchen, large dining room table, and comfortable living room all welcome guests to our island getaway. For entertainment there is a flat screen TV with Hulu & Netflix, and high-speed Wifi throughout. Just a 5-min walk to the beach, and a 10-min walk to downtown Oak Bluffs- a perfect spot to enjoy all the island has to offer.

This home was built in 1872 and has all of the quintessential Martha's Vineyard charm, but with modern amenities. It is located on a quiet street, which many locals don't even know exists, yet is walking distance to both the beach, East Chop Beach Club, and downtown Oak Bluffs. Our house offers you space - if you want to stay away from people, you can do that here, but you can also easily walk to the beach or town.

There are 5 bedrooms - 3 with queen beds, one with a full, and one with a full, twin, and single trundle. And there are 2 full bathrooms, though we highly encourage the use of our brand new and spacious outdoor shower. Showering outside is both fun and less taxing on our septic system! There are ceiling fans in all of the upstairs bedrooms, window AC units in the 2 large bedrooms upstairs and a portable AC unit in the living room, and all of the queen mattresses are new!

To make your trip to the beach more enjoyable, we have some beach chairs and umbrellas available for use, as well as a flexible cooler, and several beach boys and boogie boards.

And to make our home more kid friendly, we have several items available, such as a pack n play, an infant swing, infant bathtub, booster seat/high chair, and baby gates for both the bottom and the top of the inside staircase.

Access is easiest from the back of the house, where we have parking for 2 cars. One or two additional cars can be parked in front of the house. read more show less

    Fantastic vacation!

    We just had a fantastic vacation at 36 John Wesley Avenue in East Chops in Oak Bluffs. I would highly recommend this rental. It's in a great location with a 10 minute, beautiful walk into downtown Oak Bluffs and a 5 minute walk to the beach. However, the house itself is in a quiet, lovely neighborhood so you can relax in peace when you want.
    The beds were very comfortable and the layout of the house comfortably accommodated our party of 10. The wrap around porch was a sheer delight.

    Awesome week

    This is my second time at this wonderful peaceful retreat! I love staying here because of the location, well stocked amenities, closeness to Jetty Beach and the beds are the most comfortable that I have ever slept in! My family enjoyed sitting on the wrap around porch sipping coffee and enjoying the beauty of the space! The outdoor shower is a gamechanger!! It was spacious and I loved it! I can't wait until next year!! Definitely my happy place!!

    Our family very much enjoyed our week in this very well kept, clean and comfortable cottage in East Chop. We were 6 adults and 2 children and found there was plenty of room in the cottage and on the porch for all of us. Scott responded quickly to the few questions we had once we arrived. If available for our time-frame next summer, we would definitely rent again.

    Wonderful Oak Bluffs home

    I stayed at Scott's house with a group of friends over 4th of July week, and we had the most wonderful time. You can tell that Scott has gone above and beyond to make his house comfortable, and goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you need. You can tell he put a lot of care thoughtfulness into renting out his home. We have stayed in many house homes in Oak Bluffs over the years, and would love to stay here again!

    The house was inviting, well equipped with everything I needed to have the most relaxing , awesome time in my happy place! The outdoor shower was everything! The wrap around porch was amazing! The beds were so comfortable! I had the best sleep ever! I can't wait to go back next year!

    location and house were perfect

    The house had everything we needed including all kitchen supplies and beach chairs/beach items. Location is a short walk to beautiful beach and downtown Oak Bluffs, but in a secluded peaceful-quiet neighborhood. Loved the MV cottage details, lots of windows for ocean breezes, a great outdoor shower and the beds were super-comfortable. Perfect for families with kids. Would definitely rent here again!

    Great family vacation

    Terrific and restful stay in a house with lots of charm (and history). Quiet location that is an easy walk to a great beach and in to downtown Oak Bluffs. House is well-equipped and easy to live in -- great outdoor shower, wrap-around porch, comfortable sleeping. We had a group of 9 and were not crowded at all.

    Owners were very helpful and attentive, and quick to respond to questions.

    We are avid travelers and love all things outdoors! Our Vineyard house will hopefully be where we reside in retirement, but until then we are renting it during summers to help cover costs. We own a few long-term rental properties as well- all of which we take pride in through diligent maintenance and constant improvements.

    What is special about this property?
    This property was built in 1872 and our neighborhood was part of the Baptist community on East Chop, thus the nearby location of Baptist Temple Park. The Gothic architecture is stunning with pointed windows and doors and the decorative glass panes are an old-world craft that makes each piece one of a kind.

    What is special about your town?
    Oak Bluffs is an amazing part of the island. There are great beaches, fun bars and restaurants, a few killer ice cream shops, brightly colored ''gingerbread'' houses, and the Fly Horses! The Fly Horses Carousel, originally located in NYC and later moved to Oak Bluffs, is the oldest operating platform carousel in America. Give your child a chance to snag the prized brass ring! Our house is located a very short walk to both Jetty beach and downtown Oak Buffs.
