Unfortunately, my experience at this property was very disappointing, and I would not recommend it.

First, the room was significantly smaller than I expected. The sleeping arrangement was particularly uncomfortable because the bed is positioned immediately next to a toilet that is used by other guests. Having to sleep essentially right beside a shared toilet was unpleasant and not something I would choose again.

I also found it very inconvenient to have to travel with my own towels, linens, and pillowcases. While I understand that this requirement was disclosed in advance, knowing about it beforehand does not make it any less of a hassle—particularly for a short vacation where you are already traveling with luggage.

What ultimately made this experience particularly frustrating was how a minor issue with the property was handled. I believe my flat iron accidentally caused a small dent in a plastic storage item. As soon as I noticed it, I proactively informed the host and offered to purchase a replacement. I even found the same item online for as little as approximately $5–$10. Rather than allowing me to replace it, the host deducted $30 from my deposit, explaining that she does not purchase $10 items for her home.

I found that response and the resulting charge unnecessarily harsh and distasteful, particularly given the nature of the accommodation. This is a very basic, small room—not a luxury property—and the furnishings include items such as plastic curtains and a pedestal sink. A $30 charge for a minor dent in an inexpensive plastic item, after I immediately disclosed the issue and offered to replace it, felt excessive and left a very poor impression.

Overall, I felt the experience was overpriced for what was provided and that the handling of the deposit issue was unnecessarily adversarial. It unfortunately left me feeling like the host was looking for an opportunity to charge an additional fee rather than resolve a very minor issue reasonably.

Highly do not recommend. If you have no other option, as I did, I would strongly recommend being extremely careful not to damage, move, or otherwise touch anything that could potentially result in a charge to your deposit. In my experience, it simply wasn't worth the hassle. show more show less

Property was as advertised - comfortable and with great communication from the host. Copious notes that could be referred back to regarding entry, etc. were provided in advance, along with an abridged version closer to the date. This was perfect for a short stay that provided me with a base to enjoy the island as well as the action just off Circuit Avenue. First time on the island and from a host and location perspective this was perfect and exceeded expectations. Highly recommend. Lovely spot. Nice and secluded from the heavy foot traffic but still close to everything you'd want to see in the area.
Clean space, great water pressure and hot water. Private space with a sunroom and laundry.
Great visit.

My son and I stayed in the Garden Suite during his first trip to Martha's Vineyard, and I couldn't have picked a better place for our quick visit to Oak Bluffs. The location was perfect, just a short walk to Circuit Avenue, where you'll find plenty of great restaurants and good vibes.

The suite was exactly as advertised and looked just like the pictures. It was clean, modern, thoughtfully put together, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The whole place felt welcoming from the moment we arrived. I'd definitely stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a great spot in Oak Bluffs. show more show less

This property was very cozy making it a great stay for me and my small family. It was situated in the perfect location with close proximity to many restaurants and shop's within walking distance. The owner was easy to communicate with and she also spelled out every detail of the home. I will recommend this property 10 out of 10. We look forward to next year!

My 10 year old daughter and I have been traveling to Martha's Vineyard since she was in her mother's belly. We have stayed at a few locations over the years but this one was really unique. We were looking for a quick July 4th Weekend Daddy/Daughter trip and the Purple Door was just what we needed. It was well equipped, welcoming and comfortable. My daughter is quite independent (and particular) and enjoyed having her own area in but with easy access to me and the bathroom. It was quaint, clean, and conveniently located to all of the places we enjoy visiting while on the island. The Purple Door is really a hidden gem in Oak Bluffs. A close friend who lives on the island recommended it to me. I will definitely stay there again!! show more show less

I stayed in a the garden suite for a quick getaway and I enjoyed it immensely. It was clean, a short walk to town, quiet and the owner was friendly and accommodating. If you already looking for a cute escape I'd recommend this place over and over again
