Clean, comfortable two story, 3 bedroom, 2 bath home, on a slow-moving dead end street, in a quiet residential neighborhood, conveniently located just 1 mile from downtown Oak Bluffs, and two miles from Vineyard Haven, the Vineyard's two main ferry ports, and towns that offer many fine dining and take out options, as well as diverse shopping venues.

Easily accessible public beaches are nearby in Oak Bluffs, as are bicycle, moped, and car rentals. A short walk away are free public buses that circulate through Oak Bluffs to other Vineyard towns, such as Edgartown, Vineyard Haven, as well as connections for up-Island to West Tisbury, Chilmark, and Aquinnah.

Our open kitchen-living-dining space is well equipped for cooking and dining at home. The house is fully air conditioned and the large deck offers pleasant outdoor seating with a gas fire pit and a gas grill. The secluded outdoor shower is below the deck.

Upstairs, the master bedroom has a queen bed and a single bed, as well as a comfy recliner and a TV. The second bedroom upstairs has a queen bed, a day bed with a trundle pull out bed, and a small window seat mattress that could accommodate a small child. The spacious upstairs bathroom has a large old fashioned claw foot bathtub, inviting soaking relaxation.

The first floor bedroom has a comfortable single day bed with an additional trundle pull out bed. The first floor bathroom has a standard shower-tub combination.

There is a separate basement unit, with its own entrance where the owner may be present some of the time. Renters will have full privacy in the two story primary residence. read more show less

    I came to the Vineyard 50 years ago in 1974, for a teaching position, and lived here year round for 20 years, working in Vineyard Schools. During that time, I moved twice a year from school year rentals to various summer situations, until I was able to build my own home in Oak Bluffs through an affordable housing program in 1990. From 1994-2008, I became a part-time Vineyard resident while pursuing educational positions on the mainland, and returned to living year round here on-Island in 2014. I continued to work part-time for Cape Cod Community College as their representative here on the Vineyard from 2016-2024. Now that I am retired, I am hoping to sometimes rent my Island home and allow myself some opportunities for travel elsewhere.

    What is special about this property?
    Convenient, quiet neighborhood location is one of my home's greatest assets, allowing quick and easy access to the Vineyard's three main down-Island towns and the two primary ports, as well as local public beaches. The large deck provides a comfortable outdoor area to enjoy relaxing and dining at home during three seasons. A small separate owner-occupied unit in the basement allows me or a family member to be available to help with any issues that might arise for vacationers while here.

    What is special about your town?
    Oak Bluffs is a unique town that offers a wonderful perspective of both the historical and current diversity of residents and visitors, and the facinating story that created Cottage City. The MV Campground with the Tabernacle surrounded by beautiful Gingerbread Cottages, is contrasted with nearby Circuit Avenue, offering the most fun activities for families with children, as well as young adults and more mature seniors. Walking around the large Oak Bluffs Harbor offers viewing a wide array of both pleasure and fishing boats, and many good and fun restaurant options and gift shops. Oak Bluffs is the only Vineyard town with extensive and easily accessible public beaches.
