Description

Our 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath home is the last house on a private road, on 3 acres in a quiet wooded area of the center of the island. A school playground and town tennis courts are all 300 yards away. A path abutting the property leads to several miles of trails for hiking, biking or running. From here you can bike on paved bike paths to Edgartown and Oak Bluffs.

Included with your stay is access to the town’s private beach, Lamberts Cove which is only a 10 minute drive away. Each town has its own private beach but this particular one is an island favorite for families, sunbathers and sunsets. Parking is limited so we usually ride our bikes there (15 minutes).

5 minutes by car is the town of West Tisbury, with a bakery, general store, and a great library. It also has an outdoor sculpture garden and a classic New England style Congregational church.

Guests will be able to use a canoe and 2 kayaks.

Entrance through the vaulted foyer leads to the open area kitchen and dining room, with its vaulted ceiling. Adjacent is the living room with wood burning stove. The kitchen is fully stocked with pot, pans utensils and an espresso maker as well as a regular coffee maker. Also on the 1st floor is a suite of 2 bedrooms, a full bath, and the laundry room. Both bedrooms have queen beds and one has a smart TV. This area can be closed off from the rest of the house if you choose and has a private entrance off of the home"s rear deck, where the 6 person spa is located.<br /> <br /> Stairs lead to a loft area with a TV area and built in desk. The sectional TV sofa can also be used as a queen or twin bed. The loft leads to the master suite with a queen bed and private balcony. The en suite bathroom has a large tiled shower, jacuzzi bathtub and bidet toilet. On the other end of the loft is a 3rd bedroom with a queen size bed and ½ bath. <br /> <br /> Depending on their production you can have eggs from our small flock of chickens, which are typically allowed to roam in the yard. The chickens, yard and maintenance are cared for by Juarez who has lived in our basement apartment for several years. He has his own access through the bulkhead door and does not come in the house or use the surrounding yard. If you do happen to see him it will be on his way to or from work or the chicken house. He will not be working around the house during your stay except to tend to the chickens and, depending on the time of summer, our vegetable and flower garden. He is however available for any immediate maintenance issues that arise.<br /> <br /> We also have a small guest house that you will pass on the driveway. This is rented year around to a single woman who is very private and quiet. read more show less

    We built this home in 1994 and raised our three children here. They have all moved away and so we would like to share the Vineyard experience with others. This is possible since we are often away visiting them.

    What is special about this property?
    Quiet, wooded location at the end of a private road. We can bike to the beach, the farmers market, church, library and morning coffee spot. We are right on a bike path and can walk to the schools playground and tennis courts.

    What is special about your town?
    West Tisbury is fortunate to have access to the best beach on the island, Lamberts Cove. Its also a rural area, with minimum lot sizes of 1.5 to 3 acres so there is much more woodlands and privacy than other towns.
