Description

Looking for an unexpected and fabulous spot to view the sea? The SeaSaw is the place for you. Spectacular views of the cove, Paul's Point, Naushon, and Vineyard Sound while inside or out on the deck. The home is saltbox style entering onto a landing at the front door. Half bath, laundry, and closets are located there. Go up 6 steps to the main floor where the kitchen, dining, and great rooms are located. Sliding glass doors open to a deck where a picnic table and deck chairs are for your sunset viewing. An added perk is the spiral staircase leading up to the loft that has two chairs perfect for relaxing and having a quiet space to read or just ''be''. From entry landing, you can also go down 6 steps to the lower level where the three bedrooms and full bath are located. There are two rooms with queen beds and the third has two sets of new bunk beds that are safer in height with ladders and a safety bar.
A treat for when returning from the beach is the enclosed outdoor shower to wash off sand and debris. Outdoor showers are an island tradition not used solely for beach returns, but rather anytime you're looking to shower day or night. Of course the full bath has both a tub and shower if you prefer. NOTE: The outdoor shower is shutdown from November thru April due to freezing temps. Located within a wooded area on the hills above Lambert's Cove Road, the SeaSaw is just a 4 minute drive from the entrance/trail head to Lambert's Cove Beach, a private and less crowded place to enjoy the calmer waters of the cove or to build dams in the Black Water Brook that spills out into the sea. Perfect for young and old. Lambert's Cove Beach is only available to homeowners and its guests of West Tisbury! If you enjoy walking, you can be at the trail head in 20 minutes or you can bike there in 5. A ''walk-on'' pass is $10; however, if you want to drive to the entrance, you can purchase a $50 sticker from the town allowing you to park in the parking area near the entrance. Have sand in your toes upon returning from the beach? The outdoor shower, an island tradition, helps you solve that issue. This home is more than just a rental property. It is a place that welcomes its guests and calls them back each season. Our neighborhood, Stone Bridge, is a quiet place with only 15 homes, so there is not much traffic coming and going. The Blackwater Trail head, located just minutes from our house at Duarte's Pond, provides a 2 mile hike across footbridges and onto wooded trails. A large yard and views from the deck are perfect for young and old. read more show less

    Must Stay

We have traveled all over renting houses as a family and this is by far the best we've ever encountered! A beautiful, well stocked, well maintained home with everything you need. Gorgeous views of Lambert Cove and sunsets. It was our home away from home for the week. Located outside of the hustle and bustle of towns but close enough to visit daily. Access to Lambert's Cove is a must! Beautiful sand, water, and the ability to walk for 2+ miles (dog friendly 8-10am). Thank you Amy and Jay!

As a first time guest. I found this experience fun and straightforward. The host was very helpful and the house nicely nestled in the trees but with a beautiful view of the ocean. Great beach nearby.

July 2019 at the Sea Saw

We really enjoyed the Sea Saw! It's a very interesting and unique property, and the view is amazing. We spent a lot of time hanging out on the deck. Our kids (ages 7 and 10) loved it, and I know we made some special memories. The amenities were great, we had everything we needed in the kitchen, washer/dryer, etc....The outdoor shower was very nice as well, though during the three weeks we stayed at the Sea Saw, I didn't use the indoor shower once. Lambert's Cove beach is so beautiful, and a very quick drive. The property is very close to a couple neighboring properties, which I didn't anticipate from the online description, but all of the neighbors seemed very pleasant. Thanks Amy! show more show less

Wonderful find, house is exactly as advertised. Deck and is an amazing outdoor space to hang out and relax. The view and sunsets are amazing. The living space is very comfortable and has all you need. The beds are very comfortable as well. The location is great 20 minutes to most towns and four minute drive to fabulous private beach. House is pet friendly and offer secluded space.

My family and I had an amazing time staying at Amy's home. It has a wonderful Vineyard feel -- loads of atmosphere and the views from the deck are outstanding. Gorgeous sunsets in the evening and birdsong in the morning. I did yoga on the deck and then jogged to Lambert's Cove Beach -- which I believe is the best beach on the island. Amy was a wonderful host. We will return -- hopefully this fall.

    Summer at Sea Saw

We returned for a second Summer at the Sea Saw in August and again had a wonderful week. The weather was perfect so there were many pleasant afternoons and evenings spent on the deck after a fun day at in Oak Bluffs, Lambert's Cove, South Beach, or even a dip in Uncle Seth's Pond. Thank you for a truly relaxing week on this gem of an island!

    Wonderful!

My family and I have been vacationing on Martha's Vineyard for 15+ years but this was the first time we rented our own house and honestly, I was a bit nervous. First off, the homeowner, Amy, was amazing. I had a bunch of questions for her and she was always so kind in answering right away and so patient with me. I could tell right away how much the house meant to her and we couldn't wait to experience it for ourselves. The Sea-Saw did not disappoint! So much character. We felt right at home immediately. The view from anywhere upstairs and the deck was just spectacular. Location, location, location! Access to Lambert's Cove was the best part of the vacation. The beach is pristine, not to mention the ability to bring our dog in the morning for a run. She had as much fun as the rest of us. show more show less

I have been coming to the ''island'', as my father called it, since 1959 when I was almost 1 year old. My father was born on the island in 1928, and if you're born there you call MV the ''island''. So...forever I refer to MV as the ''island''. My father was the son of a Methodist minister who pastored on the island in the 20s and 30s. My grandparents had a place on Lambert's Cove Road, now owned by my cousins. My father and mother, in the 1970s, wanted their own slice of heaven so they purchased the plot of land that the Seasaw now sits on. They made their dream come true when they hired a local builder who constructed a simple Salt Box home, perfectly positioned to capture the view of Vineyard Sound off Lambert's Cove. Unfortunately, my father died young at the early age of almost 63. He'd so desired to live his life on MV during the summer and fall after he retired from his profession, a minister just like his father. He left his wife, my mother, and 4 children and a plethora of grandkids. Several years later, my mother died unexpectedly. Eventually, I became the sole owner of the Seasaw and have always wanted to be the best steward of my parents' dream. Now, my own children grown, love to come visit the Seasaw. My five grandchildren love coming there, too. My nieces and nephews, as well as my siblings, come often, too. I believe I am carrying out my parents' legacy by maintaining the Seasaw and offering her to all of you.

What is special about this property?
Without a doubt, the best asset is the view. Even from the kitchen sink, you can clean up the kitchen and admire the view. From every room on the top level you can see the sea. That is why I named the home Seasaw...a place to see the sea. My mother had liked that name back in the 70s when they finally built, and it so pleased me that she chose the Seasaw as our summer home's name. Also, the morning is special on the deck as the sun has not crossed over the roof from the east. It's the perfect spot to gaze out at the splendor, sip some coffee, and listen to the birds chirping each morning. And in the evening, oh my goodness, the sunsets are gorgeous. In the summer, the sun sets to the right, and in the fall, smack dab in the center, and in the winter, to the right. Every season is a gift.

What is special about your town?
The Seasaw is in West Tisbury which gives us the honor of having access to the coveted beach called Lambert's Cove. To get there, you can walk the 1 1/2 miles from the Seasaw...down Lambert's Cove Rd to the entrance, down a shaded and sandy path, up and over the dunes to the most peaceful setting for families. Not at all crowded as the public beaches, and FAR prettier. There is a brook that spills out to the sea to the right of the trail as you cross over the dune about 300 yards down. It's perfect for young and old. The water is typically warmer than the ocean, especially in June and early July. Children love to dam up the brook and create ''pools''. Every season the brook changes directions, sometimes hugging the dunes a bit and most often spilling directly out to sea. And....if you liike sunsets, you can get the BEST ones on Lambert's Cove beach. Consider taking bug spray and a blanket, and a bottle of wine so you can gaze at the slowly setting sun before it sizzles into the sea!
