Description

Description

This recently built (2018) three bedroom home is conveniently situated just a mile from the rotary in a tranquil setting just off the Polpis Road, across from Moor’s End Farm. The Polpis Road bike path is right at the end of Kelley Road. The property adjoins the conservation land that comprises most of Nantucket Island with many driving, running and walking trails to explore. A four-wheel drive vehicle is also available for rent.

The house is two stories with 2200 square feet of living space. The kitchen, dining and living spaces are upstairs and the bedrooms are downstairs. There are three bedrooms on the first floor, each with its own bathroom.

First Floor: The master suite has a king bed and an ensuite bathroom with a separate tub and shower. There are two other bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with two twin beds. Both bedrooms have ensuite shower bathrooms. The washer and dryer are also located on this level.

Second Floor: The second floor has an expansive kitchen and open living/dining area with a vaulted ceiling and skylights. The dining table has seating for ten. There is an outdoor deck off the dining area with a large dining table and eight chairs. There is also a separate den with a TV and fireplace. The den has a queen sleeper sofa and can serve as overflow sleeping space. There is a full shower bathroom adjoining the den.

A large elevated back deck overlooks a spacious yard, which abuts hundreds of acres of conservation lands available for hiking, running and 4 wheel vehicle off road exploration.

There is a spacious outdoor shower to cool off after a great beach day.

The home is partly powered by a solar panel array in the extreme back corner of the property.

Steve Callahan is a Massachusetts native who lives in Washington DC. He has been coming to Nantucket with family and friends since he was a teenager. Christine, Steve's wife, fell in love with the island and they have been coming to vacation for 30 years together.

They love the unique beauty of the island and situated their home adjacent to the extensive conservation land that dominates the interior of the island. They enjoy sharing their home, the island beauty and fun with family and friends visiting throughout the year.

What is special about this property?

Steve and Christine built this house in 2017 and the Summer of 2018 was the first summer that it was available for rent. This is the third property they have owned on Nantucket. They fell in love with the location because of its setting in a tranquil area of the island that has an ''old Nantucket'' feel. What they love most is that the property line backs up to more than a thousand acres of conservation land available to explore.

Christine is a distance runner and she enjoys long runs in the moors and Steve takes long walks through the endless trails and roads out the back door. They find that their stress level and blood pressure drop as soon as they drive on to Kelley Rd.!

What is special about your town?
Nantucket, located 30 miles off Cape Cod's southern coast, the entire island —comprised of 50 square miles —has been designated a National Historic Landmark. Idyllic Main Street and the entire downtown area, with its cobblestone streets, is a protected gem and shopping there is a special experience. Well-preserved historical sites, as well as downtown's Cultural District comprised of museums, theaters, musical performances, artists and galleries ensure visitors can seamlessly immerse themselves in Nantucket's myriad treasures.

    Beaches
With over 80 miles of pristine beaches—all open and free to the public—there's a beach to suit every taste—from the calmer waters of Children's and Jetties (perfect for children and families with food, restrooms and equipment rental) to the rougher waters of Surfside (with food, restrooms and equipment rental) Cisco (a magnet for surfers), Miacomet, Madaket (featuring spectacular sunsets) and Great Point, a fantastic scene of wildlife that invites visitors to bring their automobiles over sand to enjoy a day of fishing and adventure.

    Biking and Hiking
Twelve designated trails—over 32 miles of paths—are available for walking and bicycling. Many are suitable for the novice biker, children and families. Nearly half of Nantucket's 30,000 acres are preserved under the protective stewardship of the Land Bank and Conservation Foundation and can be explored endlessly.
